October 2012 Weddings

Stressing! I feel so behind!

My fiance and I are planning to get married in September or October but I'm worried that we don't have enough time to plan after reading what everyone has already accomplished on their to-do list!  We've visited and/or gotten pricing from several venues but don't have one selected or the date finalized yet.  Our date options are limited because he's in school and will only have a week long break.  We are considering doing a Sunday wedding because so many venues are already booked on Saturdays.  I've been thinking that once we get some of the major things out of the way planning wise, the other things will start falling into place but I know we have A LOT to do.  What do you think?  Am I way behind or is there time to get everything done by September/October??

PS I'm using my sister's old account if it says my wedding date has already passed next to my profile info :)

  • I'd say you're at a point where you may need to do some catching up and you could have a hard time finding a venue if you're in a really populated area, but I don't think it's out of reach to get everything together by October. Your first priorities should be your dress, the venue, photographer and caterer. Depending on where your dress comes from, it could take 5 months to get it in, and those three are the most popular vendors and will book up fast so you'll need to get your date in to them ASAP.

I'm getting married on a Sunday and so far have found that opened a lot of doors with vendors, as many have been booked on Saturday but not Sunday.

  • You would be surprised how much you can get done as soon as you set your venue. As long as you have the $ to pull it off by sept/oct your fine.
  • Since your willing to move to a Sunday date you will probably be fine!  Like PPs said depending on your area there may even be openings on Saturday.

Locking in your date is the most important and what you should do first.  Until you have a date you cannot book any other vendors. Call around to the venues you really like and see their availability for the dates that work for you and your FI.  Once you know the venue is available go see it and when you find the one you love book it!

    Goodluck!
I've loved you since I was 8 years old...

  • Thanks ladies! We are in the Houston area so a lot of places are already booked on the Saturdays that we could do it but we'll get something worked out. Great picture "Chick&Guy"!
