I took prenatals for nearly 2 years and I didnt notice any change in thickness, so I changed vitamins. :(
  • I had a baby and my hair got a little thicker and stronger.

I know, I'm not helpful. Wait 2 years?!

2 years is a long time to wait for thicker hair! I might have to renegotiate this 2 years thing...
  • I will make you a deal: please take 2/3 of my hair.

It depends on what colour hair you have and how long it is. I might look funny with a bunch of my hair being short and blonde or something.
  • Hi,  Rogaine worked for my son but I think you need a Doctor's script.Sometimes causes low blood pressure too.  When you stop, however, the hair disappears.  Folic acid sometimes works-must ask a Doc.  Good luck!

I've been trying to grow my hair our for my wedding which has subsequently made it thin out quite a bit. I've been using this for about 2 months now and I love it. It's made a noticeable difference for me. I definitely think it's worth a shot.

  • Are you losing hair, or do you just have fine hair? I have a freakin' ton of hair- when I had to go on steroids I lost about 1/2 of it, and you couldn't tell. Sigh. But many of my friends have fine hair, and it's a matter of the right cut and products, usually.

No suggestions, but I do have loads of sympathy. Flat, lifeless, thin. Blech.

    Good luck.
  • If your hair has always been thin, then I doubt you will suddenly be able to "grow" thicker hair.  Volumizing products and a good style are probably your best bet.

If you hair has recently become thinner, then you might start with getting a physical, and a routine blood test.  Sometimes a thyroid condition (too low?) can cause thinning hair, weight changes, sensitvity to cold, and dry skin.

A product called Nioxin can help with thinning hair, and comes in different formulas for different type hair.  You can get it wherever they sell salon products, like Ulta.  It's a little pricey, but no more than other high end salon products.

ditto Catwoman that if the thinning is recent, you may want to get checked out. and yes Cat, too low thyroid hormone, aka hypothyroidism, causes those symptoms.

NIoxin is highly recommended by several stylists I know for thin/thinning hair. I've been sorely tempted to get some for me and DH, as both of us would like thicker hair.

my hair is cut in a way to take the extra weight off the ends of my hair. I wear short layers on top and get the ends thinned out. when my layers are getting too long, my hair gets very flat, so I have to maintain my hairstyle every 6-8 weeks.

I use a lot of volumizing/thickening products. my favorite is Bedhead's Small Talk. it's a thickening cream that I add to my hair before I blow dry. it doesn't add much volume, but my hair feels thicker. I also often add dry shampoo to the roots of my hair to make them a bit "dirtier" and hold volume a bit better. and velcro rollers are a godsend--roll the crown of your hair in large velcro rollers, then blast the hair with high heat from your hairdryer. I let it sit for about 10 minutes while I do my make up, then take it out.

  • when people lose weight, i find they start losing hair.  i know you have lost some, so that might not help your cause.

    nioxin might work.

massage your scalp when you wash and condition.  it stimulates growth.
