i give you that. i don't mind if people dislike fox or palin. it was the name calling that got to me.

but kudos for getting this board hopping!

and i really must sleep. :( good night, liberal masses!

[QUOTE]Let's put it this way: "beyond help" generally means, where I come from, too thick to get a clue. Which, simplified, means "moron". So... I call a crate of hippos here. You cannot call me a name (in other words or not) and then go on to say that the reason you've said that is because I used the same name (in other words) to describe my opinion on something. It's called hypocrisy. Also, I don't know where you got the idea that I hate conservatives from me thinking Palin is a moron and FOX is bordering on criminal. I dislike her as a person, I think she comes across as uniltelligent and while I disagree with her views, I respect them. FOX is just a whole other can of worms, though I tend to look down on most news networks.

(a knot glitch posted a random blank quotation by me so i am removing it)

  • Please actually take a second and read what I'm saying before you get a red haze before your eyes and type a response to what you "think" I've said.

It is not her views that I am taking issue with, though I do disagree with them personally, I can see why she stands by them and why others do as well. That being said, I think she comes across both in public speaking and in written interviews etc. as being poorly-spoken, unintelligent at times and very closed-minded. Hence why I dislike her. The emphasis there being on me disliking her, as in her as a person, based on what I've seen of her public life, not her views or political stance.

it cracks me up to see you getting offended by comments about people who name call against people with whom they disagree AND doing exactly that yourself by personally insulting me instead of discussing my claim about the addition of personal attacks to political discourse. that is the only type of person i have spoken out against on here...not liberal thinkers, not conservative thinkers, and not independent thinkers...just the people who ruin what could be a good debate by littering it with personal insults towards the opposing political party. again, if you can't see the difference between you thinking people who watch fox news are "morons" and me saying we should have political discourse without name calling the opposition...i'm scratching my head. but whatever. you obviously think i am too much of a moron for my opinion to be worth considering, so i guess i should just go to bed like i wanted to half an hour ago. sweet dreams.

Yeah ummm this administration hasn't perfected its speaking skills either. That being said, I am happy to see Palin contribute. I think she has a lot of learning to do as a speaker but I like her, even if I don't agree with some of her personal veiws.

I wonder how many Fox haters actually watch Fox because some of the shows are actually fair and balanced. Just because Obama's administration gets a little criticism from some commentators on Fox does not mean they are falsely reporting. Is anyone not worried about what is going on with this country? We have had 2 (three if you count Fort Hood) attacks since Obama came into office. We have bills being rushed through congress without much thought (credit card bill and health care bill) Who is dropping the ball here?

  • 1. Jill, not all your opinions are facts.

    2. I am a conservative republican in most aspects, but I was not a huge Palin fan. I think she will do better in media/reporting than politics.

    3. I agree with most of what sarahsmile is saying and totally give her props. I don't have enough energy to argue politics anymore.

  • Eh, Obama seems to think that my state clings to guns and religion. Of course a typical Sunday includes going to church then the shooting range... so maybe I'm not such a good example of his baseless stereotyping.

  • I think there's a difference. Whatever else can be said about Obama, I think he's trying to be a President of all of the people in the United States, and not just his constituents. You can see that with how quickly a lot of the things he ran his campaign on have been compromised. When I watch FOX or listen to Sarah Palin talking about real Americans and snooty elites and whatever, though, I know I'm the person that they mean as the enemy. I'm white, middle class, grew up in New Jersey with two parents with MAs in the humanities, I'm getting my Ph.D. in art history, I'm a social historian so I believe in revisionist history, and my opinions tend to range toward the anarchistic and the atheistic. That means all that polarizing rhetoric is pointed directly at me, and that makes me uncomfortable.

[QUOTE]I don't appreciate being called hateful. I never once, in my comment, said anything about you being a moron, or called you names, or whatever. I said on THIS THREAD, you were being hypocritical. You're obviously overly sensitive about this subject, so maybe it's not a good idea for you to discuss politics on this board anymore because you immediately said anybody who voted one particular way was, and I quote, "too busy being hateful to be informed and follow politics." So because someone dislikes Palin and Fox News, they're hateful and uninformed and don't follow politics? And then you have the balls to try and say that other people are calling you names? WTF? Do you even listen to yourself? And I don't know what you would expect people to think you are when you had a Knottie icon that said "FOXy Bride" with the Republican symbol on it for months. If you're not really a republican or conservative, that's an odd way of showing it. Unless you're really a liberal Dem, and it was all a big sarcastic joke that I'm just not getting.

Jeez. You need to chill out. First of all, the badge was a joke. I didn't make it. It was made for me. Second of all, have you even read this thread? I don't care what you believe. Sarahnumbers posted her opinions and did it without insulting conservatives. I applaud her. So, no, I don't respect the people who come on here and call conservatives OR liberals "morons" or other names. I know you wish I wouldn't discuss politics on here because I call you out when you are being irrational, but i'm here to stay. Yes, I'm sensitive to people calling one party or the other names. Most rational people would agree. Hate me for being conservative, if you want, but take a second to actually read this thread before you throw a fit like that just because you know I had a conservative badge in my siggy. Show a little tolerance. You could learn a lot from people with different beliefs from yours if you would just open yourself up to them.
