Military Brides

Chaplain

Hey everyone! My fiance is in the Marine Corps and we are having a traditional military ceremony. We want to have a chaplain officiate the wedding and marry us to keep with the military theme, but we are having difficulty finding one in our area. If anybody knows of one in the Indianapolis, Indiana area (or one that would be willing to travel and put up in a hotel) PLEASE let me know! Thanks!

Re: Chaplain

  • Why doesn't your FI ask the units Chaplain. H's unit Chaplain did our wedding.
  • There really is no such thing as a "traditional military wedding."  There are some traditions that can be included in a wedding, but that's about it.  Are y'all getting married in your home town and not near his post?  If so, you may have a hard time finding a Chaplain to marry you.  You could look to see if there is a Reserve unit near you that has one.  However, the Chaplain for my Reserve unit was 6 hours away in a different state.

I'd suggest checking with a reserve unit nearby... I know there is a small marine office in Cincinnati which isn't too far from Indy.  Good Luck!

I'm not familiar with the marines but ask someone in command as high in command that is appropriate, not sure who would be best and see if they will help you. I know my Fiances co is very helpful and I'm sure you can get some guidence. Also, talk to some of the wifes in his unit they know everything :
