Hi,
We are doing a rustic theme wedding. I am looking for ideas for possible wedding favors that aren't food related b/c we are having a lot of sweets at the reception. I was thinking about a plant or a candle. But wanted to know if anyone had any other unique suggestions? Thanks
Re: Rustic Theme Favors
Most people, if they even burn candles, wouldn't want one in a random scent.
Just two examples of plant favors gone wrong:
I've been to a wedding where the favor was baby pine trees wrapped in burlap sacks. I have no need for a pine tree, neither did most people.
Another "rustic" plant favor was a terra cotta mini pot with topsoil and a packet of seeds. More of the pots ended up tipped over with the soil everywhere than safely home with guests.
Would you be interested in a savory/less sweet edible favor? Popcorn, trail mix, pretzels (the big ones), or the flavored pretzel nibs would all work and could be packaged to match your theme.
Another consumible option would be drink mixes: cider or mulling spices for cider/wine, hot chocolate, coffee/cappuccino, teas, or lemonades depending on the season of the year you're going for. Is there a local "specialty" for your wedding location? A little jar of jam, jelly, honey, chutney, preserves, etc. would be nice with some fabric in your colors tied over the lid with raffia or twine.

We're thinking about doing them, and I may package them in bags like this

that I would sew and stamp myself (waaaaay ahead of time ).
