Hey g - Saw one one of your posts that you are having ceremony at St. Paul's cathedral in Oakland. Was it hard to book there? What time did you choose for ceremony? And are there any additional costs other than the $900?  We are still deciding between there and Heinz. I like them both!

Hi!! It actually was a quite easy process. My mom dealt with it becuase I am OOT, but she called the wedding coordinator Jean, and asked about my date. At the time, they didn't have my date available as there are only two time slots (2 and 4) - a parishioner of the church had one of the slots, and they were holding the other, along with several others in the month of May, for the ordination of priests. Jean took our name and information and said we were first on the 'list' if the ordination is not on our date.

About a month later, my mom got a call from Jean saying that the ordination date was decided on and it was not our wedding date so she asked if we still wanted the Cathedral. The parishioner had the 2:00 time so we had to take the 4:00 time  but I wasn't complaining!

I believe we sent in a deposit ($500 maybe) right away to hold the date and that was it!! If your date is open then you should have no problem but I would urge you to call ASAP if you are interested. We contacted them over a year before the wedding.

Other than that, you have to bring in your own priest to perform the ceremony which wasn't a problem for us. I believe they want you to have some sort of arrangement (floral) at the altar and 'donate' it to the church after. Also, if you are planning on having musicians (trumpet etc.) it is an additional fee, but the original fee includes the use of the church and the organist... Let me know if you have any other specific qu's!
