eye shadow, primer

It seems like no matter what I do, my eye shadow ends up in the creases of my eyelids.  Day to day its not a big deal, I just try to fix it whenever I notice it.  But wedding day I don't want to deal with it.

Any suggestions for how to prevent this?  And perhaps a day to day product, as well as something worth splurging on for the wedding day?

Re: eye shadow, primer

  • The same thing used to happen to me!  Clinique has an eyeshadow primer offered in a few different shades and it works pretty well for quite a while.  But the best thing I've found yet is Revlon ColorStay 12 Hour Eye Shadow.  They have all kinds of colors, and I love it...never get the crease any more!  Hope this helps!

  • I have issues with my eye liner running at the outside corners of my eyes.......suggestions for that?? I get so annoyed constantly fixing it.

  • I have the exact same problem - I always nixed the eyeshadow because it would just wind up in my crease within 5 minutes.  Then I found the miracle product.

Benefit makes a product called "Stay Don't Stray".  It's an eyeshadow primer, and a little goes a long way.  I use it all the way around my eye, and make sure that I get it close to my lashes - I've noticed that my eyeliner doesn't fade nearly as much, especially under my eye.  It's also great for under concealer, but I use it alone all around my eye because it has some light concealing properties as well.  I'm so glad that I found this stuff before my wedding and I use it every day now!
  • The best eye shadow primer I have used is a paint pot by MAC in the color Painterly...my eyeshadow never creases and the pot has lasted me forever!  I also hear that Urban Decay's primer potion is pretty good as well.
  • I second the recommendation of the Benefit Don't Stray. Put it around your whole eye, even underneath lower lashes, will act as a concealer and also eliminates that lower lash mascara rub off that I get by the end of the day.
  • Laura Mercier makes a primer and an eye "base" (it's also in a liquid form) that you apply before your eye shadow.  I'd reccomend hitting a department store for a makeover so you can try it out, then buy it if it works.  GL!
  • If you live near a mall, maybe you can go to a few counters on different days, early in the morning, get an eye primer trial, and see how it lasts.

  • MAC Painterly Paintpot
    Urban Decay Primer Potion
Elizabeth Arden Eye Fix - the best one I've ever used. Powder the eye area lightly first, then apply the Eye Fix, you're eyeshadow/liner will not move.
    Benefit Lemon Aid
    Benefit F.Y.I
    Laura Mercier
Smashbox Eye Primer - it's so so, I use him for an inexpensive day to day use.

Eas2730 - she hit the nail on the head, apply it all around the eye area, and make sure to hit that outer corner as well.
As for liner smudging, the MAC Fluidline Gel Liner has been my best friend for a long time, it's super easy to apply with an angled synthetic brush.
  • I used Two FAced shadow insurance Eye primer everyday and my eye shadow and liner stay put all day. I have super oily lids. I love this stuff.
