Title for my younger brother

My FI and I want to give my brother a special title because we're both close to him but we're not sure where he would really fit in...

At the time of the wedding my brother will be 14, so not young enough to really be a ring bearer and not really old enough to be a groomsman.  My sister is the MOH, and he and I are very close so I feel he really does need a title.  I've heard people say "junior groomsman" but the name seems funny and i'm not actually sure what he would do as one.

Suggestions?

Just a groomsman. He won't be doing anything different from the other GMs, aside from not attending a bachelor party at a strip club or a bar, so no special title is needed. Hopefully, if something does get planned for your FI, the older guys will think of something that your brother can do (dinner, sporting event, etc) prior to the adult entertainment.

Or you can ask him to be an usher.

  • Just call him a GM. There is no minimum age requirement in order to be one. If he's going to wear the same outfit (or a similar one), and stand up there with all the GMs, then he is a GM too. If I was a teenager, I would feel infantalized and a little offended that you insisted on calling me a "junior" whatever.

  • Is your FI okay with having your brother on his side? Call him a GM. Or you could have him stand on your side and he can be a bridesman. Or have him be an usher, or do a reading. Does he sing or play an instrument? Maybe he could do that.

  • My two younger brothers are going to be bridesmen. Surprisingly they really liked the idea of standing on my side, however they do not like the name "bridesman" so I will have to create a more manly name.

  • My 19 year old son is standing on my side with my daughter (MOH).   We are are calling him the "dude of honor"

Was just going to post this same thing! Of course, now my daughters want cooler titles as well. 16 year old wants maid of awesomeness and 14 year old is campaining to be called the maid of bacon. Think we're gonnna veto that one.

  • Thanks for the great ideas!  I'll mention them to the FI and see what he thinks.
