My school district is about 20% Korean, so I hear complaints about Asian parents all day.

Side note story--I was introducing a new story today and we were discussing some thematic issues. One of the prompts asked the kids whether money is the number one goal for most people and they all said yes. Playing DA, I said, "If that's true, will you sell your future kids, so that you can have more money?" They said no. I asked if they'd sell their parents and they all shouted yes :P.

Hahaha, I would not be surprised at all if that was the reason. My mom takes to liking people based on their academic successes and whether or not they date and have premarital sex. Or if they come from "good" homes.

I was talking to my class about being placed in a new life. Many of them said that they want to be rich and have a lot of "stuff". I asked if they would give up their parents and the love and they all said YES too. Hopefully, they will soon learn to appreciate their parents eventhough they still have to get through the teenage years. LOL!

I am totally thrilled Blue is back. I missed her. I also miss Aprov and M&M and wish they were around more....

I am also loving Steph#s. Shes so sweet but she tells it like it is.

And I have to say.. J&K- you've totally grown on me. I wasn't sure of what to make of you in the beginning and I think you felt that way about me. I think you are pretty fabulous now.

LOL! I'm sure it's more generalizable than just Asians. I know it's an Italian thing too (stereotypically, I mean), and some other cultures over-feed people. H got freaked out the first time we went home to CO with me to visit my parents, because my mom had asked what kind of fruit he likes so she could have some at home, and I said grapes, and she went to the store and bought 4 POUNDS of grapes just for him (also they were on sale, haha). She offered them first thing in the morning and after each meal. He didn't even know what to do, poor thing.

Sorry guys, but the last page or so felt really hypocritical to me. When we had a conversation with MC/AATB and others about how black women age beautifully, etc, we were called out for being stereotypical. (I'll go look for a link, but it was awhile ago).... and now Beats/Kim/Celles can have a conversation about how correct the overpowering Asian mom stereotype is?
