L'etoile The former Pearl owners are scammers! Beware....

Please don't move this to the OBX board.  This is being posted for YOUR BRIDES TO BE safety and so that you don't get taken for a ride.  PLEASE leave this on your board.  We have had several brides that are in the process of trying to get their footing back because their "special day" has been messed with because the former owners of The Pearl in the OBX up and sold out to someone else and left with many deposits and never informed them.  Again, this is for your brides' safety.  Thanks.

Be very careful if you book any special event with the Berruets. They are holding thousands of dollars in deposits for The Pearl (their old restaurant in Kill Devil Hills, NC) for weddings in 2012 that they have not returned. Additionally, they have not communicated with any of the brides that they no longer operate The Pearl in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Their old location in NC is being renovated by the hotel to which it is connected and will be under new management.  It looks like they took the money and ran off to Naples.

    It is very sad what has already happened to brides who have made down payments to this couple for a nonexistent venue in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Now, they are advertising as an event location in Naples.  We just want everyone down there to be spared the lost of $$$ that many couples and/or parents have experienced.  This couple does not return calls and have made no effort to return any deposits.  What is worse is that most of the 2012 brides did not find out until they called the hotel connected to the restaurant or the property owner.  That is totally unethical, to say the least.  What a SCAM.

    You are actually the one being a little touchy here seeing as how WE are trying to help YOU and your fellow South FL brides.  As a bride, you understand the importance of finding and booking a venue and the stress that comes along with planning a wedding.  There are several brids in OBX that have NO wedding venue b/c of what these owners have done.  They are devastated and you would be too.  Just trying to help prevent this from happening to anyone in FL :)

    The reason I originally moved the post from our board was because the way you made it sound, it had nothing to do with South Florida. If you said they're now doing BUSINESS in Naples.. then that's an ACTUAL heads up for the West Coast board. I hope you also posted over there. We don't get many west coasters here.

    It sucks that a bunch of brides got duped and I really hope they get a resolution to this!
