Park Wedding, 200 guestsFood options?

We have a smaller budget and would like to do bbq food. But, with such a large number of guests, are there any other alternatives to having the meat catered? We'll cook up the sides. The park has small charcoal grills, so we don't have much to work with. Suggestions??

With it being a park wedding, we have to rent tables settings, which is adding up quickly too!

  • You definitely need a professional, if just to make sure the food is kept at the proper temperatures so people don't get sick, and so that there will be someone to set it up, monitor it, and take it down afterwards, so you or your guests can enjoy the party and not worry about it.  It's really rude to ask family or friends to work at or for your wedding, if they're invited guests.

Try local BBQ restaurants. They will usually cater for very reasonable prices, provide delivery and set up, and at least one person to do the work for you.
  • Check your local board (to the left, "Local Wedding Boards") for specific recommendations in your area.

We found that many gourmet food stores also cater. Not sure what's in your area, but around (metro Detroit) there are several. We found them to be more willing to negotiate because in addition to their catering, they make profits on their gourmet store items. They also supplied the rentals & linens.

    Good luck.

  • You cannot undertake this alone. Please find an affordable catering option. You will be glad you did, with so much less stress.
