No animals in my house, ever.

    Well behaved children are ok.

We had a GTG at our house and someone's boyfriend brought his dog.  He did not ask first.  We are not animal people.  Plus this was the biggest dog I have ever seen.  It looked like a husky but was almost as tall as me, I am not exaggerating.  I was very irritated.

Depends. And no, my house is not child-proof: we have a 6-y-o who can control herself.

If it's godson, no problem. All four of us adults and Bacon are on the lookout to keep him away from stuff he shouldn't get into, and I have time to prepare for him coming over.

But Bacon has a neighborhood friend who is responsible for her 2-y-o brother, and I hate having them over, because the girls just want to play, and I'm not watching someone else's toddler. I make them play in the yard.

No one's ever brought an animal.

I said kids fine, no animals. This is only because I want warning if you're bringing your dogs over, but surprise kid visits are fine with me. Generally I do invite people to bring their dogs when they come over, because Herbert likes playdates. Before I had a dog I never would have done this.

I said both are okay, but that's assuming they are potty trained or diapered!

ETA: By small animals I assume you mean dogs. No other animals are invited.

It truly depends.  For the most part, kids are welcome.  There has only been one kid I've actively kept out of my house.  It was a neighbor kid and thankfully, his family has moved.

I don't get too many animal requests...usually just SIL and BIL and their dogs are OK for the most part.  I just have to move my trash beacuse their one dog is a total scavenger.

I hate when MIL brings the dog.  FIL's dogs don't bother me though.

The only kids that come over are over 5 and responsible.

with our dogs, i'd be wary of bringing other animals in, but it would depend on the situation.

both niece and nephew spent time at our PA house, and while I don't want older SIL to feel unwelcome, she needs to keep a better eye on nephew when he's not in her home (i don't care what he damages there). Last time SIL brought nephew over was when we were getting ready to move - our house isn't childproof under normal circumstances, but was even less so at that time. While everyone else was eating, she let him run around the house without any supervision. (I guess since we didn't have a DVD player for him to watch...) This bothered me, so I ended up putting my food aside and watching so the kid didn't break something/get hurt/etc.

Last time niece was over, she stayed in the same room as the adults and played after she was finished eating. I sat on the floor with her and got Rogue to lay down so she could pet her. (I didn't want Rogue to knock her over - she's good with kids, just doesn't know her own strength.) Niece was laying on Rogue and giving her hugs and kisses. it was cute.

I answered both, but I want warning. I also don't want said house guests to change their mind and get a hotel room because "it's hot in your house" where their dog isn't allowed and so for the rest of the weekend I am responsible for their damn dog.
