It's really cold here in MA (like -7) and I'm trying to huddle in my blanket to stay warm. I was just wondering what everyone did over their weekend? I just saw Black Swan.. IMO the movie wasn't too bad
OMG! A fellow Bostonian! What part are you from? It's SOOOO effing cold here; I'll have to wear like 5 layers of clothes today!
I've been wanting to see Black Swan. Instead, FI and I went with some friends to see No Strings Attached, which was really great except for one very cliche line at the end. Other than that, I did a lot of homework and a lot of research on DWs.
I'm freezing like you, it is -39 with the windchill (which is about the same in Farenheit).
I didn't get nearly as much done as I had planned to, cleaned out our office patched holes and taped in preparation for painting. I was hoping to get much further with painting but that didn't work too well, took way longer to clean out the room because I was doing it by myself since BF went dogsledding.
Also, I am completely immersed in The Girl Who Played with Fire.

I'm in Brighton, so it's a bit warmer here. Brrrr!
Hazel: I've heard of that movie, but I never got around to seeing it. You trump my -7 weather. I think I would be escaping to the tropics or something if it was -39 outside. Me thinks hot chocolate is needed with this weather ^_^
Yep, I've been freezing my little tushy off as well. Yesterday, without windchill, was -24C (which is -11F), probably closer to -35 with the windchill. Currently, were sitting at a balmy -20, but supposed to reach -8C (which is 17F)...I'll believe it when I see it. My Dad's truck and BF's Mom's car wouldn't start yesterday because of the cold. It was not pleasant.
Friday was dinner out to welcome some family back to Canada (they've been abroad for 4 months), then I went shopping with my Mom and sister on Saturday, and yesterday I did nothing. It was a decent weekend overall.
I started on what I affectionately call the Great Apartment Cleanup of 2011. Cleaning out everything. If I haven't used it since I've lived here, it's goin bye-bye. It's exhausting work, but I remind myself I'm doing it because FI is moving in this weekend
ndelgaizo - I'm actually reading the book that the movie is based on right now.
Beads - The car was definitely not happy starting this morning. Stupidly I didn't think to plug my car in last night, I bought a used car out of one of the territories so it has a block heater.
It is soo cold in Boston! (Okay well I am outside of the city) My stereo in my car was frozen this morning! But it's all good now, I am in work at my desk under a blanket haha.
I wore sweatpants all weekend and cuddled by the heat vent with my pup. We made a blanket fort over the heat vent and she loved it (she usually just lays next to the heat vent). It was great.
ndelgaizo, I saw Black Swan last week! I liked it, but I kind of feel like they missed the mark a little on the thriller aspect. I wasn't scared the first half of the movie, just grossed out. I even laughed at some parts that I think were supposed to be scary. I did start to get freaked out near the end, though, and I was sure I was going to start sprouting feathers that night.
This weekend was BORING on the whole. I worked from home both days. But we did get our new couch, WAHOO!
Ya, my car groaned when I went to come home last night. It was not impressed. I don't have a block heater - no one here really does because it doesn't get this cold that often (I mean, it does, every winter, but generally not for long periods of time). I don't have to go anywhere until 12:30 today, so with any luck, it'll be warm enough by then that I have no issues.
My weekend was nothing if not surreal. I got a free shoe rack on craigslist, score! Oh and I got an $80,000 med school scholarship (cried like a baby) and a gorgeous-just-my-petite-size $2,400 wedding dress was given to me by a bride with a beautiful heart. I feel shiny.
Shoes,
You wouldn't happen to be talking about “I’m warning you, if you come any closer, I’m never gonna let you go.” spoken by a wobbly Ashton Kutcher?
It seriously ruined the whole movie for me. BF’s response when I mocked it: “What are you talking about? That line was so good. You didn’t think it was right up my alley?” The worst part is, he was serious.
marley: I agree that some of that movie was just trying too hard. I did get grossed out went she pulled off some of her skin though *ewww* But yays on the new couch
mookow: I need to do a good cleaning-- but I'm lazy with this snow stuff around. Goodies for you and your FI moving in together though! ^_^

<div>Why, yes I would. It killed the movie for me. :( <div> </div></div>
Ack! Cupcake! That's phenomenol news about med school AND the dress! Congratulations!!! PIP the dress!!!
My weekend was wonderful. On Friday, I went out for drinks with a college friend who just moved to town and then spent the rest of the night with BF, a pizza, some beers, and playing Axis & Allies. It was a wonderful date night (and he was having one of his few cheat meals of the month, so it was nice to indulge in pizza and beer). Then on Saturday, BF had a BBQ for the editors on his law review while I picked up materials to make myself a tutu to wear over my running gear in the race next month (yep, it's going to be epic!). I made the skirt, then we went out for a few drinks with two friends who we were setting up on a blind date, just to make the introduction process less awkward. Then we went home to play more Axis & Allies (we're dorks, I know!). And we spent Sunday wandering around South Beach and relaxing outside with a few mojitos. We topped it off with sushi at our favorite restaurant.
Honestly, the best weekend I've had in a long time!
I spent all weekend at work. It was not fun. But I got my taxes done yesterday and am getting a nice chunk back which is much needed since BF moves down in April. Plus I got $70 in cash for getting them done.
And its been cold, but it's 39 here and I can't complain after reading everyone else's temps.
Mine was busy, way too busy. I need a couple days just to recover from it. I just had a lot of meetings and places to go. BUT I had my first meeting about Peru yesterday which is super exciting!
School is seriously taking over right now though. And I haven't seen BF in weeks so my stress level feels like it's shooting right through the roof.
Ooooh Bren, I'm so excited for you about Peru! When will you leave?
Will you find me the world's best ceviche recipe while you're there? I've got a constant craving for ceviche ever since I was there for 2 days for an event last summer.
My weekend was awesome! It started off with BF and I getting a couples massage for our anniversary. I am now obsessed with massages! BF ended up upgrading us at the last minute to a Jr Presidential Suite. Our original room was on the 10th floor, but with the upgrade we were on the 37th! We had an awesome view of the Falls from our room. It was super cold and started snowing the next day, but we came prepared this year and bundled so we spent the majority of the next day outside exploring Niagara Falls and geocaching.

FI and I went to look at a ceremony site on Saturday (after I had worked for 4 hours). This big, old mansion near the lake (Berger Park mansion for the Chicagoans on here) It was really pretty but no one room was big enough for all of our guests to watch comfortably, so we nixed that idea. While looking at the grounds I slipped on the ice and fell flat on my back, so that was fun. . .
Saturday night we went to an improv comedy show with some friends.
Sunday we watched the Bears lose to Green Bay and hated on Jay Cutler. Sad day in Chicago, indeed.
All in all, I'll give it a 7/10 weekend. I'm excited for this coming weekend though - we're having an engagement party on Friday! woot!
Thanks so much for the congrats you guys, I am ridiculously blessed. This scholarship means I won’t have to go into the airforce to pay for med school (my parents have negative money), which at this point in our country’s history, means *so much* to BF and I.
As requested, here's the dress. It's a Pronovias dress that was featured on the cover of Elegant Bride. The picture makes it look shiny but it's not. The fabric has a matte texture.

Oooh, I love your dress cupcake. I think the picture looks weird though, not gonna lie. The model looks shiny herself (as well as the dress)..ooo, maybe she's a vampire!

Or she just rolled around in oil before putting the dress on. Or maybe she's a vampire in oil.
Cupcake, OMG, if I were you, I'm pretty sure I would have exploded from excitement with all of your good news from this weekend. Congrats on everything!
Keeping with the ballet theme, I did not see Black Swan, but I did buy apparel for my ballet class. I also ordered part of BF's bday present, and we sort of figured out what we're doing for Valentine's Day/his birthday. Those dates are a week apart so we're doing something on the weekend in between them. We're going to a Cirque show, going to dinner, and getting a hotel room. I'm pretty excited for it!
