Help please!

We are planning to have our wedding in may of 2013.  We live in Council Bluffs but we don't mind having it in Omaha as long as it is not too far west.  We want the cermony and reception in the same venue we are having 150 people and I'm trying to keep the budget at 5000, but that is turning out to be very difficult!  We have it narrowed down to a venue in Council Bluffs it will probably turn out to be 5500, but i would like to see if anyone has and other suggestions before i just suck it up and do it.

Re: Help please!

  • What about 1316 Jones in downtown Omaha? That venue is close to everything downtown and the interstate. Not sure about about the ceremony though.

This list was posted by another knottie and I thought it was full of wonderful ideas.

The ICC Center can fit up to 400, http://latinmassomaha.org/recreationcenter.html

Liberty Social Hall fits 400. http://www.libertysocialhall.com/home.html

Merry Occasion in Omaha $350, extra $350 if you need the chapel as a rain plan

    Soaring Wings in Springfield $400

Camelot Community Center in Omaha, under $200 unless alcohol then $300

Omaha Communtiy Playhouse $300-$470 depending on space. They have an excellent area to get married (foundation garden) as well ($300). My friend Lora Kaup works there and might be able to help, she handles all the events

Lofte Theather in Manley. $500 but also has excellent stage area for a "rain plan". Huge and pretty.

Mahoney State Park Riverview Lodge $290. Lots of pretty areas for free for ceremony. Theather as backup $225 for rain

Platte River State Park Lodge by the wooden tower $230. Lots of pretty places for wedding, amphitheater is free and already has seating

UNMC Alumni House that is beautiful and cheap. Here is the link. http://www.unmc.edu/alumni/rentals.htm

Regency Lake & Tennis Club. $650 and you can bring in your own food and alcohol and does not have security fees or anything. Been to 2 weddings here, can hold 150 people. http://www.regencylakeandtennis.com/

  • The Joslyn Castle has something similar but it is a little split up for receptions. You can also try places like the Lauritzen botanicle gardnes, The Durham Museum, etc.

  • Have you checked Bayliss Hall in Council Bluffs?  They have space for wedding and reception or you could do the wedding across the street at Bayliss Park (beautiful).
