This is why I have a ticker too!  We're only a little over 3 months and I haven't made an official guest list, figured out a florist, or ordered invites.  And I also hate wedding planning, so there's that.

  • I started planning in November for a wedding in May.  The only time I ever felt rushed, like I was waiting too long was when I ordered my wedding dress since delivery times are so long.
  • I have to admit I did book my venue 17 months out because I was also like "ZOMG I HAVE TO HAVE THIS VENUE!"  I booked other vendors about a year out.  And now I have nothing to do, which is why I now come here to procrastinate.

  • Smokes, where in Vegas are you looking at?  We booked our May wedding in Vegas in November.  I didn't get my first date choice, but I did get my second choice.

We got engaged March 2008, and then proceeded to be poor (And kind of lazy) for a long time. I refused to actively plan until we booked the venue. We booked the venue late July 2009, got married early January 2010. We had picked a venue that did the majority of the work for us ... we pretty much only had to invite people and show up that day. It was awesome.  And I really loved that I only had to spend 5 months dealing with "wedding crap".

The only thing I really worried about was having enough time to get a dress, since so many people said you need to do that really far in advanced. But I ordered my dress the first week of August, it arrived the second week of September, so I really never had any moments of "ZOMG, THERE'S NOT ENOUGH TIME!111!!!eleven!!1!!"

Obviously, I think 11 months is more than enough time.

  • I didn't sign the first contract until 7 months in to our 13 month engagement. So yeah, 6 months is what I worked with.

Kiki, we are talking to the Golden Nugget and they currently have 3 dates in August and one in October that are open.  we are doing a site visit next month.  I'll have a venue booked in January (if not sooner).

We're flexible.  We're just trying to find the cheapest room rates for our guests.

I don't get married often, but when I do, I do it in Las Vegas.
