How to cover red cheeks

Hey ladies! My FSIL (cosmotology school grad) will be doing my makeup for my May wedding and we are trying to brainstorm ideas to keep my super red cheeks under control.

My cheeks get bright red when I cry, get embarrassed, have just one sip of alcohol, etc. and then they stay red for sometimes hours afterward. While I don't like it, I'm kinda of over it for day to day but I really don't want my pictures to show my bright red cheeks.

I've tried green foundation and smashbox photo finish base but neither have worked. Any thoughts or ideas on something I could start trying now? My doc recommended an OTC antihistamine but I don't want to be tired either...

TIA.

Edit: My doc also says that I don't have rosacea so none of those prescriptions could help me.

Re: How to cover red cheeks

  • My daughter had very red cheeks due to acne and we were able to cover it using airbrush makeup.  However, this will not help you I guess if you are using regular foundation.  I also don't know if the blushing that you are describing is the same thing.

Here is a link that might help (although you've tried some of the recommendations already).

Thank you so much! There are several products on here that seem worth a try. Maybe I can get some samples...
  • I have the same issue - my face gets red all the time! For a friend's wedding I was able to cover it by doing this - I used L'Oreal true match roller only on my checks (good coverup but i didnt put it all over my face to avoid looking cake-y) then used tinted moisturizer all over followed by powder.  It lasted all night! Good luck!
  • there are topical antihistamines that you can try that won't make you tired
