Little things that make your day

Tell me about the little things that make you happy.  I think we could all use some happy!

For me, I've been searching for a pair of cute (read: not functional for winter) brown boots.  I finally found a pair, on sale, at a store I had a gift card for--last pair in my size.  I wore them out yesterday, and two random people complimented me on them.  Sounds lame, but it definitely made my day!

Your turn.

Re: Little things that make your day

  • My daily calls from Rye, he'll call me at work just to say hi.  It makes work a little more bareable. I'm waiting for that call today, but hes not on shift so I'm not sure if I'll get it :(

But other than that, my dog makes my day, when I get home from work, he won't calm down until I pick him up and pet him a bit. Its a bad habit but I really like it.

  • Gotcha. It does look a lot like the Pilates roller.

I thought about googling, but figured "foam roller" wouldn't get me far.
  • The ladies at the Cracker Barrell gas station by my house make my mornings pleasant on a regular basis. They know who I am and actually remember details about my life. My favorite lady was working this morning and asked all about my family and the holidays and how wedding planning was going. On Fridays, I usually buy whoever is working behind the counter a dollar powerball ticket. A little pleasantry goes a long way with me.

  • One of my current students just came up to me and told me that a couple of former students sent their well-wishes, and said that I was their favorite teacher from high school. Always a nice ego boost.
  • Lauren Claire, y'all's Cracker Barrel has a gas station?
  • awww... great post JK!  This POST is the little thing that made my day :)

Last summer, I was running into the Courthouse and this OLD OLD OLD man (like 90) was walking up the stairs and another younger guy was carrying his oxygen tank behind him.  Old man stops, looks at me and goes, "wow!  There is just something about a pretty girl in a white skirt on a nice day."

It was not at all creepy and it still makes me smile when I think about it.  I think it was because he was wearing Osh Koch Bgosh (spelling?) overalls and a flannel.

Glad I could be of service :)  Cute story!  I love little old men (in a totally non weird and creepy way, of course!)
  • Little things that make my day, hmmm...

When H kisses me goodbye before he leaves for work and makes sure I'm still all tucked into the down comforter.  Bonus points becuase he turns the heater on so when I come downstairs it isn't cold.

  • Mod powers, even for a moment.
  • My SIL gave me a bunch of her maternity clothes over the holidays. I'm wearing one of the tops she gave me now and I feel totally hot in it. (which is awesome, because it can be hard to feel pretty with a constantly changing body and limited clothing selection).
  • When I get the perfect Metro seat that allows me to take an awesome nap so that when I get home I'm full of energy and ready for the evening.
  • Georgia, it's not a Cracker Barrell restaurant. It's a chain of gas stations that might only be in Louisiana, I'm not sure. I'm also not sure how they got the license to call themselves Cracker Barrell and not be associated with the restaurant/knick knack shop. Or hell, maybe they're another branch of the Cracker Barrell franchise I'm not aware of.

  • We've only been married a few weeks, and I'm a substitute teacher, so I don't work every day. So, DH pretty much always leaves while I'm still asleep. He just started back to work since the holidays are over, but since he started back, I've heard him in the morning and I get to hug and kiss him before I go back to sleep.

I didn't get to do that this morning, (I didn't hear him) and when I woke up I was a little bummed.

Other little things like fresh laundry, compliments on a haircut, a clean house, etc are things that brighten my day.

Oh, and I just remembered, anytime that my sister or her FI call or text me, their ringtone makes me smile. It's a recording of my nephew saying, "I LOVE YOU!"
