Ballyowen at Crystal Springs

My fiance and I are going to see Crystal Springs in a few weeks and I just read some reviews that said there is no AC and the bathrooms are "outside".  Any more information on this?

Re: Ballyowen at Crystal Springs

  • I've never attended a wedding there but I have played golf there (I live nearby).  I guess I've never taken special notice, but I can't believe either of those things to be true.
  • I had read about the bathroom situation (we looked at Black Bear and were going to look at Ballyowen but didn't) but just asked my coworker who was at a wedding there 2 weeks ago to clarify. He said that the bathrooms are not in the reception room but they're not outside either. He said they're by the "steps that you have to go down to get into the reception room". I couldn't get him to be any clearer than that Lol

However, he did say that there is no central a/c! (Remember he was there 2 weeks ago- ugh!) He said there was a portable style a/c as big as him :o) pumping cool air into the recpetion room so that room was not terrible, however the unit was extremely loud and he said he could not hear the speeches but the music was fine. The bathrooms, because of the location he said, he began sweating the second he walked into them.

I have  a hard time believing this stuff because that place looks so gorgeous I don't want to believe it! But sounds like it might be true, sadly

THis is very true...very strange set up and hard to describe unless you see it. The room is nice, but not what I would consider for a wedding. No, there isnt any A/C. Not worth the money....you are paying for the name of the golf club.
  • I live in the same town and we looked there for our wedding and the bathroom thing was a no-go for us. It also appears quite small inside so not for bigger weddings. We had our RD at Grand Cascades and they have a beautiful wedding space but its very expensive. Have you looked at Minerals Hotel (part of Crystal Springs in Vernon) they do a very nice wedding in the hotel for a lot less than Grand Cascades

My fiance and I recently visited Ballyowen, and the restrooms are INDOORS.  They recently renovated the reception room and the restrooms are no longer OUTDOORS.  However, there seems to be no central AC.  We saw a pretty big portable AC unit, but it wasn't running at the time so we don't know how noisy it is.   Overall, Ballyowen is beautiful, and Julie is a pleasure to work with.  She is truly an asset to The Crystal Springs Resort.

  • We just booked a 2013 wedding there as well, and there IS central AC and heat, and there ARE bathrooms (nice ones at that) in the reception room. Julie has been very cooperative and I highly recommend working with her..
  • are they flexible with pricing?I

NO NO! the renevations now allow for the bathrooms to be inside and they are beautiful!! Honestly you can spend all night in them they are so nice. Their is AC in there and the nice breeze at night always is pleasant in the summer! A GREAT venue and highly recommended!!!
