Thanks for all the suggetions on the engravings! Mbody I am not creative at all either and will probably do something similar!! Lady your engraving for your FI is so funny!! And newenglandor yours is so cute!

butterfly--- i LOVE that you are milking your engagement for free champagne!! We did the same thing when we were on vacation... one of the hotels we stayed in had us listed as newlyweds when we told them we were celebrating our engagement (this was 3 months later). We got 2 free bottles of champagne and restaurant vouchers :)

  • The American version of the Gypsy wedding show is on on Sunday :) I missed it last time, so I'm kind of hoping to watch the trainwreck!

Completely different note, I work with a bunch of middle aged people (one woman, the rest men)...all have children my age or older (they are all in their 50s) and keep asking about my wedding. I think it's nice of them, but yesterday my boss asked something like "so is there like, a theme?" lol I'm like "um I guess loosely love birds" so another one pipes up about releasing doves...then another one starts talking about shooting down the doves, and another then chimes in about eating them at the reception Undecided All I could say was "uuhhhh...no, no doves" lol

  • beach that's awesome!!! we ended up going on vacation a week after we got engaged, we totlaly should have tried to do something like that too!!

the all-inclusive where we are honymooning includes a bottle of champagne every day and I am so excited for that, hahah! I could drink champagne allll the time and be happy. speaking of which, I have had a rough week, maybe I will have to convince fiance to share a bottle with me tonight to continue to celebrate our engagement ;)
  • bridetobe there are 9 more days of frappuccino happy hours, I will make sure I keep reminding you till you get one :-D mmmm mine was really good!

owengirl....sounds like you have some really weird co-workers!!!!
  • Butterfly-- a bottle of champagne every day on your HM sounds amazing!! I really enjoy champagne too but FI isn't the biggest fan :( he likes wine better.

  • I love champagne. I don't drink it nearly enough.

We didn't get anything when we got engaged on vacation! However, I think there was probably a language barrier issue (Italy).

  • owengirl - LOL. What!? Also, I don't know if you saw this in another post, but I mentioned that your "Inspiration" centerpiece was from a wedding at my reception venue!

  • do you guys wanna hear something awkward/bad?

so one of my good college friends got engaged last month and they started planning a destination wedding in the dominican. They started a facebook group a few weeks ago and called it "wedding prep". they had the location of the wedding, the wedding date, etc. listed in the event information page, and requested that everyone submit their current addresses for purposes of getting save the dates ready. The page solely talked about the destination wedding. Fiance and I were SHOCKED because people that this couple isn't really that close with were on this facebook group, but figured they were just over-inviting and thought nothing of it.

They edited the event this week to say something along the lines of "we aren't actually inviting most of you to the wedding. the wedding will be intimate with close friends and family only. We just need your addresses for things like shower invitations."

so now none of us know who is invited, who isn't, what their plan is, whether they are just wanting presents, or what! it's really awkward because my fiance and I had been looking at some booking info, etc. because it sounded like a fun trip...but now it sounds like we aren't even invited....
  • Mmmmm Champagne....why can't liquor stores deliver? Or for that matter, why can't I drink on the job? hahahah....

Bridetobe-that's crazy! That was my centerpiece inspiration like 6 months ago, before I changed my mind 7345689 times.

I had a casual friend plan her own bachelorette party and invite all of her facebook friends. What was really weird was the fact that it was a weekend at a huge beach house in San Diego that she paid for and was asking for everyone to pay her back. I'm not even invited to the wedding and she invited me to the bachelorette. Ummm...WTF?

[QUOTE]lvisser- I am a beer girl.. If I am drinking at home or brining my own I prefer Corona Light if I am out in a bar normally just Miller Light. Lady- SO Jel of you sending your invites. I feel the sameway I just want them out of the way! Hopefully I can get them finished this weekend and put them in the mail next week!

    Me toooooo!

FI and I are obsessed with finding new/yummy craft brews and going to beer festivals.

My non beer go to is a vodka club with lime... I'm pretty boring and can't stomach fruit drinks or margaritas and such. :(

I religiously watch the Gypsy wedding shows... I was SO disappointed when last Sunday's premiere of the American gypsies didn't show the fight they keep advertising. I'm sucked in anyway.

  • I'll probably stick to water, but I'll do prosecco for our toasts.

Our signature drink - god, I hate that phrase - is a bellini martini, which we're having made with prosecco, peach puree and vodka, so we're having prosecco at the shindig - no champagne.

(Yes, I know prosecco is the Italian version of champagne; let me think it's cool.)

  • Hmmmm....vodka club with lime I am going to have to try that. I usually just get Vodka Cranberry with Lime, or a Miller Lite.

  • On a semi-related, talk about your coworker note, 2 of the only coworkers I'm inviting to my wedding just had a huge blowout argument right in front of my desk. AWKWARD.

I hope they kiss and make up before the wedding hahaha

  • Yum yum, I love champagne too. During football season, Fi and i make mimosas every Sunday. I think I should make it an every Sunday thing though. My plan for the wedding is to stick with just champagne too. I'm so scared that i'm going to get drunk at our wedding, I don't think I've ever not been drunk at a wedding, lol. That makes me sound like an alocoholic, but it just happens. I'm kinda a light weight now.

I love the gypsy shows. The best. FI even likes them. We want to be big fat gypsy wedding for halloween if I can find a crazy big outrageous dress.

I absolutely hate how my coworkers always bring in such unhealthy food for potlucks, etc. It's like people try to bring in the most unhealthy thing possible. It's either donuts, cakes, cupcakes, fried stuff, mac n cheese, cookies like 2-3 times a week. Makes it so hard to drink my slim fast shakes for lunch and see that.

  • k888 - Super awkward.

I am only inviting a few of my coworkers and it's basically just as a courtesy because I don't know them very well. They think I'm an absolute lunatic after hearing me scream at one of my vendors, so chances that they accept the inviation are (I'm hoping?) slim.

Ditto, champagne or prosecco. Only clear liquids! I can totally see myself spilling something on myself.
