Who's Who on CW?

Here's a fun little game we can play!  Feel free to add some categories.  Which CW knotties do you think fit each one?

1.  Who would you hit it off with the most IRL?
2.  Who do you love, but know you'd butt heads all the time in real life?
3..  Who totally intimidates you or intimidated you when you joined this board (Not a negative thing...more like who seemed really, super cool, or really super smart, etc?)
4.  Whose wardrobe would you be most likely to raid?
5.  Whose life seems most exciting/interesting/whatever?
6.  Who on CW would you pick to be your child's godmother?
7.  Who seems totally different now from when you first "met" them? (Either they changed, or just your first impression of them was totally off)

Re: Who's Who on CW?

  • 1.  Who would you hit it off with the most IRL?
There are definitely several girls who could fit this for me, but I'd have to say Erin, Calypso and Biblio.  I don't know Erin as well, but I've just always really liked her.  Calypso and I seem to have a lot in common.  And Biblio is just so nice and so fun that I can't help but have a friend crush on her!
    2.  Who do you love, but know you'd butt heads all the time in real life?
Monkey!  I LOVE LOVE LOVE Monkey, seriously.  From when I was first on TK, she has always been one of my fav posters.  While she and I share a ton of viewpoints, we also disagree on some.  And I'm pretty darn opinionated IRL (even moreso than on TK).  But I think we'd butt heads in the way where we'd both enjoy a debate over healthcare, and not in a way where we'd be like "ew I can't be around her."  So in a friendly way.
3..  Who totally intimidates you or intimidated you when you joined this board (Not a negative thing...more like who seemed really, super cool, or really super smart, etc?)
Lalaith.  She just isn't afraid to say whatever she believes, plus she knows what she's talking about, which I admire, but it can be intimidating!
    4.  Whose wardrobe would you be most likely to raid?
Erin's, because she's going to find the perfect black skinny pants, and I will want them!  Also Newly, because I really liked her wedding dress, so I'm sure I'd like her other clothes.
    5.  Whose life seems most exciting/interesting/whatever?
Riss!  She seems very educated, she lives in a cool area, her H is kind of a big deal, annnd she just seems to intersting to me.
    6.  Who on CW would you pick to be your child's godmother?
Ummm duh...Carrie!  Not that I'd ever slack on my parenting duties, but if I did, I know she'd pick up the slack!  And any time my kid asked me questions I didn't know the answer to, I'd just say "go ask your godmother."
    7.  Who seems totally different now from when you first "met" them? (Either they changed, or just your first impression of them was totally off)
Probably Calypso.  At first I just kind of assumed Calypso was some fancy, rich person for some reason.  And maybe you are fancy and rich, but you're regular and fun, too.  I have no idea where I got that impression, but for some reason I just imagined you living in a mansion, drinking out of a fancy glass, wearing fancy jewels, and being like "Dahling, I can't BELIEVE you'd use the wrong fork for your salad!"

  • 1. Who would you hit it off with the most IRL?  Probably Riss.
    2. Who do you love, but know you'd butt heads all the time in real life?  i love agape but my drinking and potty mouth would probably mortify her!  :-)
3.. Who totally intimidates you or intimidated you when you joined this board (Not a negative thing...more like who seemed really, super cool, or really super smart, etc?)  no one
    4. Whose wardrobe would you be most likely to raid?  no idea, i dont have people's siggy pics on so i never see people.
    5. Whose life seems most exciting/interesting/whatever?  definitely not mine!
    6. Who on CW would you pick to be your child's godmother?  probably agape (if she can get past my drinking and potty mouth).  or perhaps one of the converts as converts are often the strongest catholics!
    7. Who seems totally different now from when you first "met" them? (Either they changed, or just your first impression of them was totally off) hmm. cant really think of anyone who seems different.
  • At first I just kind of assumed Calypso was some fancy, rich person for some reason. And maybe you are fancy and rich,

hahaha!  im a hillbilly from Vermont!  lol!!!!!  i am so far off the radar from fancy.  i am filthy rich tho.  just kidding.
  • Calypso, I could drink you under the table. Consider yourself challenged.

People make too many assumptions about me.

Haha, yeah I have NO clue where I got that impression, but it makes me laugh now that I know you better.  I just for whatever reason assumed "oh, Calypso is all fancy and better than me!"

  • Carrie, at least the assumption is that you're good :)

  • 1. Who would you hit it off with the most IRL?
Probably Resa and Prof - you both remind me of people that I'm friends with now IRL, so I feel like we'd click
    2. Who do you love, but know you'd butt heads all the time in real life?
Not sure - I'm pretty non-confrontational in my real life, so even if I felt like I was butting heads wiith someone I probably wouldn't really say anything :)
3.. Who totally intimidates you or intimidated you when you joined this board (Not a negative thing...more like who seemed really, super cool, or really super smart, etc?)
Carrie's knowledge of doctrine and all things related to Catholicism is definitely intimidating, and constantly surprises me as to things I never knew or had heard of
    4. Whose wardrobe would you be most likely to raid?
Whoever mentioned that lace front sweater from Banana Republic (I think) on a different thread a few weeks back - I loved that sweater, and I'm sure whoever bought it had great taste!
    5. Whose life seems most exciting/interesting/whatever?
Any of you ladies living out on the East Coast - I've loved everywhere I've visited over there so far (which is admittedly limited), but it just seems like such an interesting part of the country with a lot of history
    6. Who on CW would you pick to be your child's godmother?
That's a tough one as there are so many qualified candidates :) - possibly Riss, I've always liked how she explained her journey towards becoming stronger in her faith, and I think she'd be great in helping to guide others in the same way
    7. Who seems totally different now from when you first "met" them? (Either they changed, or just your first impression of them was totally off)
No one jumps out right now, I lurked a lot and read past posts for awhile before ever posting, so I feel like I got to know people at least somewhat well before I really started interacting

I am so close to this!  There was an excellent option at the Limited last time I shopped, but of COURSE they didn't have my size... I plan to check again this weekend, and if they're still not available in store, I'm just going to order them and hope for the best!  I also liked the black "jean leggings" at the Gap, but I still want some that don't have the jeans-style pockets so they feel more dressy.  Keep you fingers crossed for me!
  • aww... I really want to play, I just don't think I have any good answers!

  • Oh Erin, my fingers are crossed.  I'm letting you do the legwork on this, but I'm fully invested in the results lol.

  • I bet you have great answers!  Start thinking about it and post later :)

  • Calypso, I could drink you under the table. Consider yourself challenged.

we really need a GTG with everyone on this board!

These are really hard because I feel like most of the regular posters fit into many of these spots for me.

I know I'd hit it off with professor, lala, biblio, chelsea, calypso. I would love to drink with carrie and maybe go to a Mets/Cards game! I'm interested in learning more about TXKristan and erin!

I don't know who I would bump heads with that are still posting on this board....same with those that I found intimidating.

Wardrobe is difficult bc I don't know much about the ladies here - I think professor has great style!

LOL @ my hubby is kind of a big deal :-) Someday someone will actually hire him. I hope!
I would love to spend a few days in Carrie and Lala's shoes as they work for the Church and I think that's pretty cool. I also would love to know more about TXKristan.

Honestly, so many of you would be amazing Godmothers...I would have a ton of kids and then I could pick all of you! I wish we lived closer bc I don't have any real faithful ladies that I am close with here.

I think I misread Carrie alot in the beginning, and I understand and appreciate her point of view much more nowadays.
  • If I had time to save money/PTO, I could totally imagine traveling somewhere for a GTG.  It's just hard to know where, since everyone is spread all over.  I suppose a New England GTG would be feasible for a decent number of people, though?

  • we should try for something this summer.  we sorta talked about it while back, but we need to DO IT!

  • Okay...early-to-mid July?

  • Oh man, that would be fun!  I don't know that I'd be able to swing any long-distance travel this summer, but I'd definitely try!

  • 1.  Who would you hit it off with the most IRL?

Probably Prof because we're both converts and teachers.  But I'm sure a lot of you guys here.

    2.  Who do you love, but know you'd butt heads all the time in real life?

Resa--no offense taken, don't worry.  I know I have some different opinions.  But I actually think I wouldn't butt heads with anyone in real life, unless you tend to voice a lot of political opinions in real life.  I tend to be most opinionated online, so if you can stand me online, we should be fine in person.
With my real life friends, we tend to stay away from politics and religion (for the best)

3..  Who totally intimidates you or intimidated you when you joined this board (Not a negative thing...more like who seemed really, super cool, or really super smart, etc?)

I don't really remember... they're probably not still here.

    4.  Whose wardrobe would you be most likely to raid?

I don't know, the only clothing I ever pay attention to are the wedding dresses, and there's been lots of lovely ones on the board!  Not sure if that represents how the people actually dress.

    5.  Whose life seems most exciting/interesting/whatever?

Riss... but I'm not sure why.  :)  Maybe because her husband is kinda famous

    6.  Who on CW would you pick to be your child's godmother?

I'm going with Agape on this.  I don't know, I just like the idea of my future child having a godmother with an encylopedic knowledge of the Church.

    7.  Who seems totally different now from when you first "met" them? (Either they changed, or just your first impression of them was totally off)

Again... don't really remember.  Wish I had better answers!

Monkey I can more than just "stand" you online; you are totally one of my favs. I actually love to talk politics and religion IRL, esp if I know someone doesn't share my beliefs. I kind of stir up the butting of heads :p

Lol... I'm too much of a wuss in real life to start that stuff with my real friends.  People I barely know or had class with?  Sure!  My friends are for the most part completely opposite of me in beliefs, and/or don't like talking about that stuff.

I have one friend with whom I talk almost exclusively religion and politics, but we agree on most things, so it's not so controversial!

  • I have one Godson...My sister's son who is adopted from Russia. His sister is also adopted from Russia.

I was single till i was a bit older, and I kept getting passed over for Godparents because people wanted married couples (even though these couples weren't attending mass).

  • I'm going to hijack a moment and share something here:

I've been a bit frustrated at the lack of apparent fruits of my time and financial investment in the TOB institute. I get renewed every time I go, and its awesome and completely worth it, but the practical side of me still thinks about if I'll ever get paid back financially from speaking engagements or teaching classes or whatever. Its been a struggle being passed over sometimes. (I still have been speaking on it, just missed certain events).

Anywho, several years ago I led a West DVD series at my parish-- had a small amount of people (which I expected because we had done the same series the year before and had 80 come). there was a married couple there that were hearing it for the first time.

Well, last night I went to Theology on Tap, it was a vocation panel, and the married couple that was there was this couple that I introduced TOB to 3 years ago. Turns out they bought every book after that day, and she changed her medical practice to completely NFP-only. Her big medical system didnt' like it, so she just went into private practice.

These last couple months I've been ask for marriage counseling by 3 different people. (unofficially-- over beer, and I know my boundaries). It was all TOB related- and after my explanations light bulbs seemed to go on.

    FINALLY I'm seeing some fruits.

  • Carrie, that's an awesome story about your doubts being answered!  It's so awesome when, just when you're thinking you're wasting your time, you get some awesome signs of the fruits of your labors!

  • I'm really happy for you Carrie! I know you are so dedicated and it must be such a great feeling to know you're making a difference!

Popping in for a Sunday visit, since I decided at the last minute to include CW on my "no" list for Lent, because it makes it too tempting to click to other boards and then TB and then...I've wasted an hour. I didn't even say good-bye....but I'm definitely taking advantage of Sundays to say hi to you guys (a little celebration for a little Easter). Anyway....

Other than Resa and I declaring our TK love for one another, there's too many gals here that I love for too many different reasons. I'll just say that I truly feel blessed to have this little community with you girls.
