Wedding Party

Two Flower Girls and Two Ring Bearers

So I have a bunch of little cousins ... and I love them all ... I mentioned to my Mother that I'd like to have two of each and she seemed to like the idea ... however, as much as I like this idea, I was wondering out of curiousity what some people might think of it and if anyone has done it before? I've been in weddings where there's been 2 flower girls and no ring bearers and vice versa ...

Re: Two Flower Girls and Two Ring Bearers

  • I think it would be super cute. I myself am having an escort for my flower girl because my nephew doesnt want to be a ring bearer with my son. So my son will walk down by himself and then my daughter will walk down with my nephew. I wasnt really looking to have an uneven WP but oh well I am rolling with the punches.

  • Since they don't serve a purpose other than to look cute, I don't see why you couldn't have two of each (plus, two rings, two ring bearers - makes sense to me).

At the last wedding I attended with children in the WP, there were three flower girls and two ring bearers.

  • They are only there to be cute, so it doesn't matter how many you have. You could have 3, you could also have none.

  • I attended a wedding this past weekend where the bride was in the same situation as you. She had 2 flower girls and 2 ring bearers. They were too stinkin' cute! It sounds like a great idea to me.

We had two of each (two sets of twins).  It's really not a radical idea.

  • Thanks everyone, I really loved the idea and so did everyone else, I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be silly or tacky.
  • Silly or tacky would be asking near-strangers to be your FGs or RBs for the sake of filling a meaningless role.  Since you have two girls and two boys you know well and want in the wedding, you're in good shape.

  • When I was little my sister and I were both flower girls in two different weddings! We had the same dress and everything! I do have to say we were pretty cute :D
  • We don't have any little boys in our family, so we have 2 flower girls, and it'll be perfect  They're going to steal the show anyway....there'd be no room for a ring bearer ;)  You do what YOU want, and you include the kids who are important to you.... that's how you chose your attendants, and that should be how you choose your little ones. :)
  • I think it's a great idea! But then again, I'm doing that myself..lol I have my twin nephews, then my soon-to-be stepdaughter and her cousin. I think they will look so cute and can't wait for everyone to see them all dressed up.  I also have 2 MOH and no other bridesmaids, my finance has 2 best men and no groomsmen.

As long as you're happy with your choices that's all that matters.

  • Personally, I think it will be adorable if that's what you want.  After all, they won't complain about dress style and color like some bridesmaids may... ;)

For me, I want no children at the reception, which means they probably won't be at the ceremony either.  I'm not close with most of my family (Idea: mom is one of 7 kids, dad is one of 6.  For family I will have 1 set of grandparents & one aunt & uncle from dads side...., one aunt and her BF, one cousin & his wife from mom's side.  If they accept.)... I have no nieces or nephews.  I'm in the bottom three for cousin ages.  I have 2nd cousins...?  But... I haven't seen them in years.

So when my mom brought up a RB & FG to me... I said hell no.  MOH & BM can hold the rings, and I'm not wasting money on flowers to step on.

My poor mother.  She thinks she's attending one of those TV show weddings.  *sigh*  :D
So every sweet with sour is tempered still that maketh it be coveted the more For easy things that may be got at will most sorts of men do set but little store. Why then should I account of little pain That endless pleasure shall unto me gain?
  • Do what you want. If it makes you feel better, I am having four flower girls and no ring bearers...
  • I am having two of each. I am doing it because there are two boys that are cousins that are the same age, and I want to include both, and want to have an even number of girls. Plus all of the kids will be between 4 and 6, so I figure if they have partners, they will be more comfortable walking down the aisle cause they won't be alone.
  • We're having one flower girl (niece) and two ring bearers (nephews). We think it will be a great way to include more of our family in the wedding. I love the idea of two flower girls and two ring bearers. If we had another niece, then we'd probably have two flower girls as well :)
  • It's whatever you want!  I'm having 3 flowergirls and 1 ringbearer.  I couldn't choose between my 3 nieces (ages 18 mos - 5 yrs), so they are all walking down together with my little cousin.  They will look adorable!
  • That sounds adorable!! Do it! :) I have four months to go, and I still don't have a flower girl! I know I don't need one...but I REALLY want one (there's even a mini-version of my dress for flower girls). I wish I could have two!! Every little girl I know is either too old or too young, or can't make it to the wedding...or I don't know them well enough. It's making me anxious.
