Holiday Running Streak?

I just read about this "Runner's World Holiday Running Streak." You run 1 mile each day from Thanksgiving until New Year's. Well since I'm just reading about it now, I'm going to start today.

Anyone interested in joining me? See if we can keep our streaks going for the next 4 weeks straight?

Here's a link to the article I read: CLICK

Re: Holiday Running Streak?

  • That sounds really interesting. I'd like to do it, but I can't physically run 1 mile yet without dying. I'm starting to use my inhaler like I should, and that should make the biggest difference.

I might be in. Buggle was a fantastic accountability partner through 30 DS and now I'm back in my pre 30DS body, I don't like it.

  • It sounds like a great idea, but I can't run..... I wish I could though.

  • Can I average one mile a day instead of running exactly one mile every day?

    If so, I'm in!

<div>Do you mean like you'll run 5 miles on Monday and then take Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off?</div>

...pretty much.  That's cheating, though, right?

I was really into doing this, but realized that I try to do bar class 3 times a week, so not running everyday.  But I can hang in there and run 2 a week?  Better than nothing :)

I think so. The way I'm reading it, the goal is to run a mile every day and keep the streak goings throughout the holidays.

    I won't tell if you cheat though ;

Yeah, it looks like the idea is to do a mile a day at a minimum and if you do more one day, great.

We'll see.  I like to run 2 or 3 times a week and make them longer runs, but maybe I can force myself to do it every day.
  • I won't be participating, but I do have some major running to accomplish this month.  At the beginning of the year I set a goal to run a mile a day (average) for the entire year.  I was doing great up until September (avg 1.5+ miles/day) but my major sickness lost me a lot of miles.  I need to run at least 63 miles to hit my goal.  I've already ran 8 this past weekend.

    Good luck everyone!

Oh I would be up for another thintopia if someone wants to get that going...

I'll start a new one when I get to work tomorrow!

  • I saw this and thought it was a great idea. But I didn't see it till Thanksgiving and I spent Thanksgiving in Wisconsin and it was snowing. So I used that as an excuse for it not being a great idea. Though, I'd be in if I had someone else to encourage me!

<div>I'm really struggling right now.  I get home usually around 6 or 6:30, and it's pitch black.  We're trying to do inside workouts right now instead so that we can jump back into running once it starts getting light again.  Long story short - I need to just suck it up and join a gym.</div>

I run after work and before dinner.  As soon as I get home from work, I change out of my work clothes and into my running clothes.  Then I procrastinate for about 20 minutes.  Then I realize that if I don't get out the door, it will be dark before I get my run finished.  Changing clothes straight away is really key for me.  I feel like it doesn't give me a choice, once I'm changed I don't have any other excuses.  I literally just need to walk out the door and start running.

  • I run in the dark. All you pansies. It's a million degrees cooler and the streets in the neighborhood behind my complex are well lit, for the most part. And very little traffic. It's nice to oggle the houses....

<div>I got to the gym after work. For me, it's dark in the morning AND after work now (I work 6:30am-4:30pm) so I can't even use that as an excuse. I bring my stuff to work with me and go straight there. If I go home first then I know I'm done for the day. Once I see my couch, nothing else matters haha</div><div>
</div><div>ETA: I also change into my workout clothes before I leave my office. I have been known to bring my stuff to work, leave work, and go home with my gym bag on my shoulder rather than heading to the gym.</div>
