Not Engaged Yet

Anniversary gift ideas

This is somewhat of a post & run because I'm about to go give blood and then have a long lunch meeting, but I'll be back later.

Our 6 year anniversary is coming up, and I want to get BF something sentimental/meaningful but not cheesy. He is notoriously hard to shop for, and I don't have a crafty bone in my body, so I usually end up just getting him something practical.

He likes golf, watching sports (especially football), trivia, movies (he was a film major in college), music, camping, and he's a beer snob. I'm thinking of getting him a new wedge for his golf club set, but I'd like to get/make something more personal as well.

Any suggestions?? TIA!

a countdown to the end of the lockout (pleeeeease be next week!)

I love the Ravens store, in general, haha.  You could also get him some kinda sporting experience (tickets to a game, whatnot) but that can get pricey.

If he loves trivia you could always buy a game where you two can play together! My BF loves board games (the kind with all the little people and take forever to play), but also loves trivia. So in the past I've bought him Trivial Pursuit. :)

Also, BF and I don't share gifts on anniversary. Our birthdays are both in December, so we've decided all of our gift giving is in the month and then we don't have to scratch our heads the rest of the year... :) We just swap cards at V-Day and Anniversary along with going out and doing soemthing fun.

Ugh, my boyfriend lets me know that on a regular basis! If you aren't a fan of either of those, I'd go with making him a Snapfish photo album/scrapbook of the two of you or something like that. This year, I did a boudoir photo session for his birthday/our anniversary, which was awesome. He loved it and it was so much fun to do! It's really a huge self-confidence boost and you have this great memento he can keep for years to come!

I did this for BF and my 2nd anniversary. I used Picabo to make a photo book. It was really cute and he liked it a lot (so he says). But also include the sexual favors...as that makes any man appreciative!

I got BF a home beer brewing kit for Christmas last year and he loves it!

Tickets to a game when season starts (maybe go for college with the lockout thing going on)?

We have this trivia game and it is lots of fun.

Oooh another good one is a beer club subscription.  They send you 12 beers a month and you can choose to purchase 3/6/12/etc months.  BF loved this gift as well - and it's a gift that keeps on giving!

Oh yes!  I did this before, too (a loooong time ago before it was popular).  He absolutely loved it.

I got a trusted friend to take the photos.  We hung a white sheet on the wall and put one on the floor.  Then we switched to red sheets.  I had a bunch of cute outfits.  He still likes to look at that album!

I also did it more like a scrapbook with the pictures on nice paper and poems and such throughout.

Beer brewing stuff is going to be my next present for BF! He keeps saying he wants to brew beer, but still hasn't bought any of the equipment. That beer club sounds like a pretty sweet gift too! Someone gave me the 6 months of chocolate subscription  from Amazing Clubs which was really good, so I bet their beer one is awesome as well!

Our anniversary is 8 days before Xmas so we don't exchange gifts, or if we do they are little ones.  I usually do some kind of IOU idea.  Those are always fun!

We usually exchange cards and go do something fun for the day followed by dinner.  Our 6th anniversary we went to the Vancouver Aquarium for the day, then went around the park its located in, and went to dinner later that night.  It was awesome!

    Great ideas, ladies! Thanks!

Peek - who says that should be an anniversary-only thing ;)

Lamarrs - I've thought about the game thing, and now I'm thinking I could do a trivia theme and get several board games, etc and put them all in a basket together and decorate it (or something).

Jessica - I really like the boudoir idea! It's probably too late to do that now, but I'll keep it in mind for future gift ideas.

SKP - Those are all good ideas. I've thought about the home brewing kit before, but he didn't really seem into doing it on his own. Lately though, I've heard him tell people he will probably get into the home brewing thing at some point, so that could kick it off. We already have season tickets to the UT football games, and I've always wanted to get him tickets to a pro game, but they're so expensive! We're actually going to a minor league baseball game the night of our anniversary (we're officially celebrating the weekend before) - it was my idea and I bought the tickets, so I guess that's sort of already part of the gift.

Thanks again! I'll definitely let y'all know what I end up doing.

Anne, since you liked the board game idea, they make Monopoly for different football teams, not sure which is your BF's fave. I'm guessing since you're in Austin he's either a Cowgirls (yuck!) or a Texans fan?

Actually he's a Bears fan! He grew up in Dallas, but never really liked the Cowboys, and he has family in the Chicago area.

That's a good idea. I'll see if they have it for the Bears or I know they have a University of Texas Monopoly (his alma mater and first love in football).

Nope, not a musician as much as an appreciator. He's a big concert-goer. But honestly, I bet he would love guitar lessons...

Yeah, so is my friend, and he's from New Jersey (is that where you're originally from?). He has season tickets to the Cowboy games, though, just so he can see the Giants when they play there. He sells his tickets the rest of the time. Isn't that crazy?

I'm originally from Philly so I'm an Eagles fan actually. That is nuts but I bet he ends up making money by doing that!
