Tuxes-What Color to choose?

Our wedding colors are eggplant and burnt orange with touches of lime green. My bridesmaids are wearing eggplant dresses and I kind of think that black tuxes clash with the color scheme that I am going with. I have seen brown tuxes at Mens Warehouse, but the shoes that come with them are awful. I was thinking about having the guys buy tan/kachi suites from Jos A Banks or something like that, but the wedding is in October, so I dont know if Kachi is too light for that time of year. If I go with that, how do I make the groom stand out as well as what do I have the fathers/ushers wear?

Im so torn, I just wanted to look at options other than just the normal black tux option.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't go with chocolate brown. I've been to weddings where this was the case and trust me when I say it doesn't turn out that pretty.

I think Khaki or light brown is fine though, even in October. So I'd go for that.

I think grey or tan suits would look just fine. You can make the groom stand out by having him wear a differnet colored tie or pocket square.

No I am not set on tuxes and would be perfectly fine with suits. I didnt even think about grey. I just thought that suits/tuxes in the brown color family would go better with my color pallette.

Just an FYI, there is no such thing as a tan tux. I wanted tan tuxedos for my guys, but found out that they aren't made in tan. If you want tan, you need to go with a suit, which we didn't want. I ended up going with gray tuxedos.

We had chocolate brown tuxes for my wedding and they looked great.

Jean Yves makes a tan suit, but it is super similar to a tux, it is hard to find...

I'm also doing eggplant dresses and our guys are wearing medium grey suits. I really like the grey and purple combo!

I have no idea why I didn't suggest grey! My guys are wearing dark grey suits and my girls will be in purple dresses! haha

And raes, I'm sure yours were beautiful. I just have bad thoughts because of this wedding I went to. The guys looked horrible. lol But their tuxes looked all 70's and polyester or something. It was weird. My little brother was a groomsman and he looked about 4' tall! The shop where they got their tuxes must have had someone with no knowledge measuring. His almost looked like a zoot suit on him. I guess everytime I hear "brown tux" that is what comes to mind.

Look at all the options in the world but, honestly, choose black (if that is your FI's preference). A classic black tux is timeless. Add punches of color in other ways -- colorful pocket squares, braces, cuff links and socks are really nice options for the men.

We're doing charcoal grey tuxes, they look great on all the guys. Dads are both wearing their own grey suits (by coincidence the both only had grey ones that fit) and they all look great together. I think charcoal fits well with every color scheme personally!

Either go full-out proper black tie (http://www.blacktieguide.com/)for your gentlemen or don't. If you don't, go with your idea of suits.

As for time of year, the fall is certainly not a bad time of year to be wearing earthy tones like khaki. Of course, that's subject to the climate in your part of the country. If it's dreary and more winter-like than fall, that may change my opinion. A khaki suit in either cotton or wool will serve your gentlemen well for years to come. It's an incredibly versatile suit that both dresses up and dresses down well. Just please don't rent them. Khaki suits are on sale so often and for about the same amount of money you'd spend to rent them. Keep your eyes on Macy's for sales starting this time of year.

My argument for charcoal grey is almost identical to that for khaki. Either color will serve you well.

On your other idea...

Here's the thing about tuxedo colors: a tuxedo in anything but black or midnight blue (the classic color) is a novelty color and, as such, is likely to look extremely dated years down the road (Note: white dinner jackets, worn properly, are not a novelty either.) . Think about all those powder blue suits you've likely seen from weddings in the 60s and 70s and you know what I mean.

Unless you're going with tuxedos in the timeless colors (black, midnight blue, white dinner jacket), worn at the proper time (after 6pm), and with the proper accessories, you're not doing it right.
