Invited to Wedding but not Reception?

I am a member of another website where someone posed the question is it ok to invite 300 people to my wedding, but not invite about 100 of those people to the Reception. I'm thinking that's not proper etiquette, and in poor taste. Am I right. I don't want to answer her unless I have ALL my facts.

  • Youre right, thats an awful idea.
  • Uh oh, Sucrets is getting invasion-happy again!  ;)
  • Thank god!! I thought I was missing something. But that was my first thought, how rude that these people are ok to see you get married but you cant enjoy the party afterwards.
Actually its my SparkPeople Page. I'm on the 2010 brides, and I got an alert. So I checked it out and I didnt even want to answer till I talked to you guys. Thanks!!
And yes it was her budget. Then why invite 300 people is my thought. Take it down to the 200 you dont mind feeding later. Geesh!!! You guys are great.

  • Nope, you're not missing a thing.  It's awfully rude.

She probably has an 8k dress, though, and is biitching about budget.

Ha! That made me chuckle. FI does that impression all the time!

Oh, and yes, I agree that the OP is correct--it is an awful thing to invite people to the wedding and not the reception.
  • Very rude. Ruder than a cash bar and dollar dance combined.
