Anyone buy Microsoft Office on Amazon.com?

I don't have Microsoft Word on my computer ... I am using Open Office, which is a free compatable program with Microsoft Office.

However, the Open Office Word version can show up really wonky on computers with Microsoft Word. And now that I'm applying for jobs, it makes my resume look like crap. I want to buy Office, and Amazon.com has it cheaper than the Microsoft website.

I think that the Microsoft website just gives me a code once I buy it from them. Does Amazon do this? Or will they send me the CD in the mail for me to manually install?

    Does the product description tell you?  Usually I find amazon descriptions very detailed.

    One thought: you're still currently employed, right?  And your husband is?  When I was looking to buy Word a few years ago I was lucky to talk to an IT guy at my office about it at just the right time, and he mentioned that the enterprise version for home use could be purchased by employees for something like $20 - ridiculously cheap compared to the retail price.  My company never announced that or anything, but I'd imagine it is fairly widespread.  If either of your companies is decently sized and uses Word, I'd ask your IT people if they know whether you can take advantage of the same program.

    I'm not employed anymore ... I was laid off along with most of my coworkers in late September :( The company's been super-nice about it and the remaining workers have been awesome in trying to find us new jobs or serve as references. It's a shame, that was probably my most pleasant working experience ever. Oh well.

    MH is working, but I have the feeling he'd have a hard time getting anyone at work to help him get this for me (lots of red tape and such).

    Plus I got trigger-happy and bought it a couple hours ago Embarassed I read the description and it seemed like it'd be mailed to me, so I pulled the trigger and bought it and yes, it'll be sent to me as CDs.
