Former BM Drama never ends. This girl is about to get her @$$ beat.

So....everyone knows about the Boston BM Drama i have been having...and they finally decided to drop out of my wedding....3 months before and after all the dresses were ordered....WHICH i laid out money for.

Well, last week, i get a call from the dress shop. My dress was being held because they refused to pay for their dresses. My dress has been paid off since July!!!! LAST YEAR!The dress shop said, because I gave my CC to order their dresses, i was responsible for not only their dress balances...but the shop charged me $225 to do 3 standard bustle points.  WTF.  After fighting with the dress shop, i got the alterations charge waived since cmon...225 for a bustle...are u kidding me. I needed no other alterations...and their contract said 10 bucks per point. My MIL said its like they were trying to get money from me one way or another. I still had to pay for the other gowns though.

Long story short...i had it out with the former BM last week as well...and i am thinking about driving up to boston and outting her ...since shes been cheating on her husband. (I have pictures and video to prove it)...although i am better then that...it has crossed my mind.
I asked her to send the check to me and i get this response in email:
What I find fascinating about this whole thing is you cannot even consider the time, effort and money I put into your wedding and bachelorette invitations and write this whole fiasco off. All you see is money.
Whatever. Jeez, as a friend...and as a bridemaid, i thought there was some work involved. but i guess not. Ive been a MOH and BM before. laid out thousands of dollars...never b-tched about paying for a dress which was rightfully mine when i agreed to be a BM.

anyway, we called the local news when all this went down...and the station wants to do a segment on what happened....but since the dress shop rectified their situation...its going to be a story on "WEDDING WOES...the hidden charges brides dont know about"

Since i have had this happen with every facet of my wedding........ the venue nickle and diming us, making false promises, to the charges to rent equipment which pays for it 10xs over....etc. i think it needs to be out there for people to see before they get suckered in to spending 40grand on a wedding like i did.

What would you girls add to this????

  • WHOA.  Not even sure where to go with this one.  I haven't experienced this at all.  My vendors have been so great; I feel like I can trust their decision making.  I'm so sorry you're going through this! It's really interesting that the local news is going to do a story on you!  I wonder what kind of public response you will get from it and if your vendors will try to fix their wrongdoings before it airs.  Keep us posted!

  • i would hope they would. but to think of how many promises we were made and how much things have fallen flat makes me wonder how many brides just dont know what they are in for when they sign a contract and how many have gone through the same as us ...and i really hope it sheds light on some crooked vendors out there who feed brides lies and dont deliver. Vendors are quick to snatch up a deposit if something happens with a bride changing her mind or loss of job, or all the other circumstances that can arrise when planning...but suddenly its okay to add charges to bills, charge for obsurd things etc like its nothing.... Thank god the dress shop rectified the situation...BUT...why would a bride need to even go through this in the first place....right?  Some of these companies know they have you by the "balls" per say...and they dont tell you things until you are almost forced in to spending the money you didnt think you had to.

I have read several stories on the knot already about this...so i know i am not the only one.
Rude service, charging services fees and then expecting brides to tip on top of that (happened to me), things being lacklusterly thrown together, venue staff breaking things and not replacing them like cake toppers, wedding flutes, ....sometimes i think this whole wedding market is a sham...and then to showcase the dream weddings on shows like Million Dollar wedding or David Tutera My fair wedding....to give girls the false hope they can have the wedding of their dreams without spending a million bucks....Blah!  i spent almost a years salary ....and it became an addiction.
And that ...is where these places get ya.

Sorry for the vent...just observing whats gone on in 2 years. its scary.
  • Can you take those BM's to small claims court?  I assume since they stiffed you on the cost of their dresses you really don't want to be friends with them anymore?  Did they sign anything paperwork-wise?

  • If you have any lawyer friends I would ask about taking those BMs to small claims court or having them draft a letter demanding they repay you.

Also, that girl is a total B and I would have for sure gone off on her!

Luckily I haven't been totally screwed over by anyone so I don't have much to add to your story, but I am stuck with the RUDEST bakery on the planet. We were stuck with them because we chose an all inclusive package at our venue and we had a $500 credit with them or we would be out that $500. We finally told the coordinator at the venue everything that's happened with them and how terrible they've been and they said they were going to reevaluate their vendor list.

  • Did you kick out your BMs or did they drop out? I think if you kicked them out then you should pay for the dresses, but if they dropped out then I think that you should take them to small claims court.

    I am so sorry!
