OK, I'll be one of those people who keeps a topic going long after it died...

We had been dating about two months, and it was our first trip up to Lake Placid, NY, for FI's first competition racing long track. We were in our hotel and about to fall asleep, and I realized it was time. It had taken me a little while to get used to the idea because my last two relationships had turned out so badly. So I said something like, "I have to tell you something because it's important and please don't freak out if you think it's too soon or anything.... I love you."

His response? "I've loved you from the first moment I ever saw you." Which means a lot, because we were friends for about four years before we started dating.

I loved him from pretty much the start. But given what I've been through in the past I couldn't say it first. He finally told me about 6 months into the relationship. I just cried. I knew he did but I needed to hear him say it when he was ready.
