It's my last day in the office, so they let me come in at 10 instead of 0630. We're having a pizza luncheon with everyone in the office and it should be pretty good. Tonight I'm going to go see Jo Koy at the Improv, and then tomorrow I'm going to the tattoo shop to finish up my half sleeve. Congrats DJ! WARNING - SAD DUCK STORY: My parents used to get us baby ducks and chicks every Easter, since we lived on a farm, they knew we could take care of them once they grew up. I had a baby duck that I named Squeaker because when he became an adult duck, he couldn't quack, he kept squeaking like he was a baby duck still. Well, one winter, we had a snap freeze overnight, and he must've been crossing the road when the temperature dropped and got his little duck feet frozen to the pavement. A car struck him, so when I cam out to catch the bus to school, there were all of these white feathers everywhere and two duck feet sticking up out of the ice. I asked my mom to stop getting me ducks for Easter after that. That is so messed up to me. It's annoying when parents try and tell you what to do. It's just plain condescending when someone who isn't your parent does it.
Not too long ago I was dropping off some paper work for a client and was stalled by a family of geese hanging out in the road. While I was stopped I took a picture. You can see one in the road on the right but they all were starting to head for the median.
Oh, and funny story. Yesterday a woman was sitting with me (started 2 weeks ago, but was having computer issues so she was just shadowing for a bit). As I'm typing she asks me how I did something, basically cut out a line so quickly.
I didn't understand what she was asking so I said to point it out the next time I did it. So she did, and she was like, "How did you get those words to disappear and the sentence to go backwards?"
Guys. I was pressing the "delete" key. "Oh! Good idea," she says. Uh...ok.
Sesh, that's worse that the professor I had who didn't understand how to use the back button in a browser. She spent 30 minutes on the first day of class showing us how to find her textbooks on the publisher's website. For each book (all by her so same author) she'd search by author, click on the book, then click search for author again. She then said that if we needed any computer help she'd be glad to assist us.
At least she didn't present off of transparencies, like a group of my classmates did last semester though. Who in college today can't make a simple powerpoint?

I don't fault the older generation for not knowing how to use computers.. but sheesh, don't apply for a job that requires basic computer skills without knowing how they work.

I went to a writer's conference earlier this year and one author was doing a workshop on converting Word docs to e-book formats. I was excited for it, until I realized this woman had no idea what she was doing. It was awful, and so awkward. She couldn't figure out how to do the "find and replace" in Word, couldn't find the backspace button, couldn't operate the Internet, said totally inaccurate things about setting up Kindle accounts.

Nitpicky thing but I'm pretty sure Snooki announced her pregnancy last December or January so her due date can't be December 21. Unless she's planning on being pregnant longer than Jessica Simpson.
I'm exhausted. We started rehearsals this week for an upcoming production, and will be in rehearsal 6 days a week for the next 6 weeks. I love it, but by the end of the first week I just want to sleep for a day.
Congratulations DJ! What a perfect weekend to announce (for your H).
Matty, I sobbed at that book too - and it was during one of the first times staying with H's family back in Nebraska. Not embarrassing at all. But, I left the book for the aunt and she soon understood.

I just realized it is my baby sisters first anniversary today. It is still weird to me that they're married.
