Can we talk about anything other than Olympics? ;)

Sorry ladies, I'm not into it at all.

It's 2PM and I have time to kill. What's everyone up to?

Re: Can we talk about anything other than Olympics? ;)

  • It's 11am and I'm just about to get ready for work. Technically I have the day off, but I have phone calls and filing I need to catch up on and my boss will likely be calling me for help scheduling a surgery.
  • NO.

Just kidding. I am bored as fuuuck. I can't get done the work I need to here, but I also don't have enough to keep me occupied. IT"S BALLS.

  • I just came back from the post office and I've noticed something I do that I find kinda weird, lol.  I carry my keys everywhere with me even if I'm not taking my car.  I didn't even notice til I plopped my keys onto the counter. Wtf.  Why do I do this.

  • I'm with AZ it is only 11am here and I am done for the day. I have to  cover the front desk today for about an hour. I also have to cover tomorrow and work the whole day down there. I am so ready for my mini vacation.
  • I can't believe it's only 2:15, I am so tired. I can't wait to get home and take a nap. And I've decided on salmon for dinner, yum. I also kinda want to try this recipe <----clicky. I have pretty much everything I nee to make them, with slight variations, but I think they'll be nice to have on-hand as snacks. I'm burnt out on turkey meatballs. My H has made them, like, every week since we moved here.

  • Cause you ate doughnuts, THAT'S WHY!  I have no idea, havit maybe?

Nates- I feel the same way, my boss is out of town this week. And I've pretty much caught up on everything.

  • GROSS I DIDN'T EAT DOUGHNUTS!!!  Some slore on my FB feed did, lol

  • Boobs, I always have my keys with me too.  We can be taking H's car somewhere (even out of state) and I still have my keys with me.  Weird.

I'm about to go scrounge up some lunch.  I'm starving already.

  • I'm lazy so I'm just C&Ping from E:

I'm here, much earlier than expected.  We left on Saturday with H's family to go on their yearly fishing trip to Canada.  Gpa ended up passing away on Sunday (quite peacefully thankfully), so I'm headed home early so I can get to the funeral.  H drove me to International Falls, MN (border town) and dropped me off and mom and her best friend are almost here to pick me up.  I'm sitting here with time to kill at this point.

I also found out on Monday that I got that teaching job I interviewed for! I'm really pumped about that. It'll be such a great experience!
  • Ah. Mehg reminded me. I've totally been in a food rut lately. I feel like I make the same 6 things over and over again, mostly Tex Mex type foods. Part of the problem is I'm exhausted by the time I finish a 9 hour workday and know I still have 2-3 more hours of dictations. I want to branch out but not go too crazy or difficult. Any dinner favorites you all have that are fairly quick and easy?

Sorry about your grandpa Chels. But great news about the job!

  • Wow, Chels, that's great!! Wooo!

AATB, I'm going to send you a donut ornament when I send back 30DS. The end.

  • So sorry to hear about your grandpa, Chels. But congrats on the job! What level will you be teaching, again?
  • I'm sorry about your grandpa Chels.  :(

AZ, make best friends with rotisserie chickens.  I love those things when it's too hot to cook or I don't have the time.  I use them in salads, for tacos, with rice & veggies...

It'll be middle school French at the two public middle schools in a town in central WI.
  • Chels, What a bittersweet few days you're having.  I'm so sorry about your grandfather, but congratulations on the job!

I'm here.  We just had an impromptu meeting at work while we ate lunch.  It sparked some conversation about Treasury Management and how we don't have a strong system here.  I have always been interested in that (previous bank jobs that did have it) so I'm going to make it my small pet project with hopes that when I can get certified I actually might get a decent title shortly after graduation.  We will see how it goes.

We do too Girlie, when neither of us have the time or energy we do chicken and salads.

Girlie- is there something wrong with your kitty, or is that an illusion?

Yes, I agree. My H doesn't like them (he says they're too greasy), but I love them. They're just so moist and flavorful, and they even sell them at the Fresh Market. I'll pick one up and make several meals from it. I like to have it shredded with white sticky rice, teriyaki sauce and sriracha. I also make shredded chicken sandwiches with it. The possibilities are pretty endless. Salads, tacos, wraps. It's a nice alternative to all the grilling we've been doing lately, too.

I didn't know middle schools even taught foreign language! I think HS was the first time I ever had the option. Very cool. :)
  • Sorry about your grandpa, Chels.  Sounds like it was a blessing though, I can relate to that.  *hugs*

Congrats on the job, woot woot!

  • There was soomething on Pinterest about a bunch of ways you could use rotisserie chicken--I think I have it pinned somewhere.

AZ, our school district used to start world languages in the primary grades (IIRC, kindergarten).
  • Chels- that is great news about the job- sorry to hear about gpa though.

Nates- 30DS does get easier after 5 or 6 days- I definitely noticed a difference in what I was able to do in the workout.

Gah I am bored but don't really want to do any work, either.

That makes sense, actually. Now that I think about it, I learned Spanish in preschool and K in TX. I guess my later school district just didn't have the same resources.
  • Congrats on the job and my condolences on your g'pa Chels.

Mehg those look yummy. I may have to try something like that soon.

I hit up a new food truck for lunch and had an amazing asian short rib burrito. Unfortunately it was way to mess to hold and eat. It was also doused in sriracha which my mouth liked but I am afraid will anger my stomach. It better not act up before we go out for fancy dinner tonight. I have been looking at the menu all day, too many good options!

AZ--they cut a lot of it, so I think it's just middle school now, but there was a time when our gradiates could become fluent in a language by the time they graduated.

Kate--Will I just know when to switch to Level 2? I know that sounds stupid, but will it become ridiculously easy for me or should I just push myself to do Level 2 after about 9 or 10 days or so?

ETA: Tell me about your weekend plans, please.
  • Yeah Nates you will definitely notice a difference in your endurance and strength as time goes on.  It's pretty cool.

But yeah, I'm sure right now?  You want to die.  :)

  • @ Girlie- The picture makes your cats left side of his head look weird, is it just me? Could be ;)

Nates- We'll be driving Friday night and Saturday morning headed to SC. And one day next week I am forcing my husband to take me to dinner at the place we have our reception. Dont be jealous! :)
