is this too much??? or not enough

i want a wow factor at the wedding and want it to be interactive as possible, during the reception we will be having a cigar roller, and i was also thinking of having a photo flip book station. should i have someone else for a favor to like little mason js of chimmichuri sauce( also going to be used during diner) or would the cigar staion and phot booth be enough? or maybe all three? any ideas would be great

honestly this is more than enough, although how many of your guests will enjoy cigars? and will the station be pretty far away from the food? tobacco has a very strong smell and I would not want to smell it while eating, just my two cents

The two stations are definitely enough! But I agree - make sure to have the cigar rolling station off to the side - you do not want anyone to think the aroma is offensive or overpowering! Very cute ideas though!

actually im not sure if any of my guests actually smoke cigars but iits my way to remember my dad since he passed away and he always celebrated special events with smoking a cigar. as to actually having people smoke them after they are rolled im planning on having the station on the second floor balcony next to the stairs that lead to an outside deck on the roof terrence where there will be a table with wiskey and rum  for the guys to smoke as i also really dont care for the smell and am against seecond hand smoke :) there will be around 50 guests 8 which are children.

I think the 2 are more than enough.

I love the idea of a flip book station.  I had a photo booth, and never heard of the flip book until watching 4 Weddings the other night.

If you're not sure if any of your guests actually smoke cigars, why in the world would you go to the expense of hiring a cigar roller?  I get that you want to honor your dad, but there has to be a better way than spending money on something that no one will use or enjoy.

I abhor cigars~well, for that matter, any smoking and there is not a single person in my immediate or extended family who smokes, so this would be a "nope" for all of us.

Do the flip book thing and the mason jar.  It's plenty.

Or if you really want the cigars to honor your dad, what about just buying a box of decent cigars and having them set up somewhere for people to take if they want them.  I would imagine thats a much cheaper route than a cigar roller, especially if you don't even know who would get one.

when i said i didnt know if anyone actually smokes cigars i meant i dont know if any of my guests are avid cigar smokers, i know alot of the guys enjoy smoking a cigar on occassion as josh has with a bunch of the guys on special occasions.
also i think alot of you are trying to invision cigar smoking in a typical reception hall, but our venue is very different. check this website out as it willshow you a picture of where im doing it, www.skiesta.us . im planning on having food in the dining room, dancing and partying in the great room and then the cigar station will be on the second floor in the game room, with a doors leading right outside.i dont think it will effect any of the other guests who wont want to particapate.
as for cost for a decent cigar it would be $10  each so for 50 it will be $500 or the cigar roller rolls 50 cigars is $500 total, costs are very close if not the same.
the photo flip station will be on the bottom level in the theater room, so everything would be away from everything. i just wasnt sure if  because i was turning both stations more into an interactive activity at the wedding if i needed a traditional favor, but it sounds like ill be fine with the cigar roller and photo flip books.

I wasn't worried at all about your setup.  I think you'll be fine with how you have it setup.  You just had said you didn't know how many would smoke them,, thats why I mentioned just buying a box.  But you clarified.  I still think 50 cigars is a lot to expect from a wedding your size, but hey its your wedding and your money to spend how you choose.  I know none of my friends are avid cigar smokers either, but they enjoy smoking them at special events.  We bought decent ones for our OOT bags, but we bought them for only $5 each at the Native American casino where our wedding was so they were much cheaper.   A friend of mine who got married after us put fine tobacco and pipes into her OOT bags, and all the guys enjoyed that too.  (Most of the people staying at the hotels for both of our weddings were friends who didn't want to drive instead of actual OOT people).

Yes, I think you will be fine with the cigar roller and photo books.  Our only favor was the photo booth and the photo strip frames.  There were some people who didn't use the photo booth so technically they didn't get a favor, but that was their choice.

By having your favor "stations" away from your reception you run the chance of your reception being very empty.  I was at one where the bar and bathrooms were in another building (connected by a short walkway) from the reception.  People were in and out all the time and would stop to talk to other people outside instead of coming straight back.  As a result every time they wanted to do something like cut the cake or the tosses it was a production to try to get people back in the room.  When they did the anniversary dance the parents of the bride and groom all missed it.  And the groom's parents probably would have been the ones married the longest, considering the couple that "won" hadn't been married as long as the groom had been alive.

For example if you want to do tosses you could end up with all the single men upstairs smoking their cigars and then stinking to high heaven when you do get them back in the room.

I saw the photo flip book idea last week on some wedding show I was watching, who knows.... all I remember thinking was how cool it was. If I could fit one more thing in my budget I would absolutely do that and the guests at this wedding on the show seemed to love it so I say definitely go for that! Any memento you can keep long term and look back on with fondness as opposed to "wow why did I even keep that?" is a win!

its similar to the idea of a photo station but its a video, like 7 seconds long then converted into photos, printed out and then put into a binded book. when flipped through it becomes animated .

to prevent people from missing cake and dances, i am having this all right after dinner then opening the photo flip station. and as for having people upstairs doing cigars and downstairs doing photos, i have desided to have cigar rolling during cocktail hour and photo flip books after cake.

I also saw the flip book on Four Weddings and thought it was very cool.  My fiance thought it was silly and agreed on a photo booth instead.  Just wondering if anyone knows how much the flip book station costs in comparison to a photo booth... or which vendors provide them?  THANKS

And I also think that the books and cigars are MORE than enough... we're only doing the photos!  I think the photos will appeal to the girls and the cigars to the men (and a very nice way to honor your father)!  All the best!
