Veil or no veil?

Hi ladies,
I need some opinions on veils. Originally I was thinking of just taking off the veil after the ceremony.

However, I've decided that I want an updo, but off to the side with some sort of hair clip/bobby pins, etc. So I think a veil might look weird. Plus, I'm concerned about messing my hair up when I take the veil out.

Then I thought, why have a veil at all? I've noticed a lot of the hairstyle pics on here don't have veils (although maybe the veils were taken out before the picture was taken).

So what does everyone think? Is it a "no no" to not have a veil?

it's not a "no-no". a lot of brides do not wear one - if you don't think it will look right with your side-do, skip it. It will save you a little bit of money after all!

Another option is a birdcage veil. I'm having a low side swept hair style that looks awesome with a birdcage veil.

Skip it, a veil is just a preferred look.

Agree- you don't have to have one- it depends on your look, and if it works. If you prefer your look without one, I'd skip it, unless your FI has a strong opinion on it.

IMO Veils look old-fashioned in all the pictures I see. However, I don't think having a veil, if you want one, will mess up your hair-do. Lots of brides wear it for the ceremony and remove it for the reception. Although depending on what you do with your hair, it may be too much to have some kind of accessory in your hair and a veil over it.
