Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

I miss you ladies. :)

I feel like I haven't been around here in forever.. I think I've checked the boards maybe three times in the past couple weeks.  Life has been so crazy, I feel like I can't even keep up..

Anyways, there really isn't a point to this post besides to say hi and I miss you all.  There are a ton of new names popping up lately, and I can't wait to get to know you all better.

Oh, and yea, I would be the one dummy who made my FI drive like a hour and a half to get to the cancelled GTG.

I hear ya about crazy life...luckily I can feed my knot addiction slow times at work :)
And ahhh that sucks about the GTG...I luckily checked the boards like an hr before we were going to leave and was surprised to see it cancelled!  However, I would not have had to drive as far as you guys.  Crappy!

Haha, no, Jeff gets mad about nothing.  Except when I shrink his teeshirts in the laundry.  He likes to drive, and he stopped four times on the way home to help dig people out of ditches, so he was happy.  He gets like the biggest high off helping people.

Candy stand is not wonderful.  I wish I could say it was going amazing, but we are barely making enough to pay the rent right now.  I've been there every single day but today (more medical tests and finals tomorrow), and doing everything I can, but its just tough.  I was so excited in the beginning, and its been quite the let down.  Oh well.  I'll keep trying through the month.

gray - what are those in your sig?

What is the candy stand thing?  I remember seeing a post about it earlier but I can't remember exactly what it was about...

Sorry to hear it's not going as well as hoped

We started a Charity for medically disadvantaged kids, and we got a HUGE donation (like $50,000 worth) of candy.  We got a kiosk at MOA, and were trying to sell  enough to buy presents for children who have to be in the hospital over the holidays.

</div><div>I'm surprised to hear that it hasn't been going so well. I would think that people would jump at the chance to help kids in the hospital. People are so scroogy, geez. How long are you going to be set up there? FI and I are planning a trip to MOA before the end of the year and I want to stop by. With his schedule it has been hard for us to get any shopping in. </div>

God, I know.  Some people can be flat out rude or political or just freaking crazy.  It makes it really hard to stay upbeat and cheerful.  Of course, there are some very sweet people (I love the old men who walk in the mornings).

Oh, and I have a new found respect for those hair-straightener people who always stop people as they walk by.. we are right next to them (2nd floor outside nordstroms) and its amazing to hear their stories.  Plus, they have bought a ton of candy and even tell their customers about us as they are trying to sell their hair stuff!

Sorry to hear about the sale :(  I think it is really cool that the hair straightener people have been so helpful.  If I'm out at MOA I will definitely stop by!  Hope things get better and that the Christmas spirit catches up with some shoppers.

aww. sorry you drove to the GTG! I was hoping we wouldn't miss anyone.  :(  Glad Jeff enjoyed the drive anyway though! haha.  Jeremy was outside all day Sunday helping dig out our neighbors.  silly boys.

And bummer about the candy kiosk too.  Here's to hoping it improves.  Do you mind me asking who donated the candy?  I'm curious now!

    I had a thought...

    Steph -
let me know if this would be okay?

Enchanted - Could you put together an info sheet about what the stand is, what its for, where it is located and any other tidbits about the candy or the stand. Then perhaps we could help by sending/giving out the information to others that we know that might not go to MOA on a regular business or don't go over to that area when they are at MOA. Perhaps that might help drum up business for you at least a bit more.

Steph - It was an annonymous independent donor.  Basically, a very wealthy friend of my uncle's that was looking for a tax write-off and was willing to help.

jeepbaby - Thats so sweet!  It might be overstepping vendor rules though, so we can wait to hear from Steph on that one.. but I think it would probably be okay to tell you we are on the second floor outside of Nordstroms.  We are selling gummi worms, gummi bears, peach rings, mini sour worms, orange slices, cherry slices, gum drops and spice drops for $6 a bag (they are 2lbs, so pretty big), or 2/$10.  We also have a variety of large stuffed animals.  When you buy one, you can take one home and one will be delivered to a hospitalized child on Christmas Eve.  Those are $25.  100% of all sales go directly to the charity.

I feel badly because I won't be able to make it out to MOA before Xmas, due to finals and such, but I am going to tell my mom because I'm pretty sure she will have to make a trip out there soon. Hopefully she will remember to stop by!

Does your charity have a facebook page? That might be a good way to drum up business.

I was over at your booth last Friday evening and your aunt was there.  I bought a couple bags from her.  Sorry it's not going so well.  It's got to be hard being next to See's Candies.  Your kiosk looks great, though!
