4 months at wedding

FI and I are expecting are first child in September but or wedding is April (in two months) which means I will be about 4 months pregnant. The problem I'm having is that I already purchased my dress and its an a-line with a tight fitting bodice. My debbie downer family keeps telling im going to be huge and wont be able to fit into my dress. I need help deciding on a possible second dress just in case i can not fit into my current dress. What are some nice dresses under $500 that will fit my possibly big belly?

Re: 4 months at wedding

  • I doubt that your belly will be huge, but I would check out David's Bridal. They have a nice selection of dresses under $500.

[QUOTE]I can't see you being so huge you'll need a new dress in 2 months. I'd talk to a seamstress to see how far the bodice can be let out if needed. For a backup dress, I'd look at places like David's Bridal, J.Crew, The Limited, White House Black Market, Macy's, Nordstrom, etc.

    This. :)
  • I think at four months you can probably still make it work, I'd ask a seamstress about the possibility and cost of alterations and it might set you back less than a new dress. I saw an episode of "Say Yes to the Dress" where they made a dress similar to how you describe yours, work for a bride who was in the same situation as you and appeared to be about six months along at the time of her wedding. She looked great.
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • Many, many, many women are barely showing at 4 months pregnant. Do you have anything of a swelling yet? How tall are you? Are you particularly petite? If you are average height or taller and not petite, I wouldn't give it another thought for now. In a months time reassess the situation. If you need a new dress I would hold off on buying anything until right before hand. Check out David's but don't buy until under a month before hand. Any alterations will need to be done very last minute anyway.

This...when my sister was 4 months she was barely showing and I think the only reason I noticed was because I knew she was pregnant.

Talk with your seamstress and you could even consider adding a corset back to your dress (if possible) to give you some wiggle room.

Please don't listen to your family...you will not be huge at 4 months.

  • I had a boss who had the flattest stomach. She never started to show until 5 months. I wouldn't listen to your family. I would possibly consult my OB and then if s/he thought it appropriate I would look for a second dress but buy it last minute.
  • You never know how you'll carry or when you'll show. If you're at all tall or long-waisted, you may be totally fine. Talk to your seamstress about corset-backing, even possibly a little stretch panel area. See what magic she can work, and what it might cost.

  • congrats!!! everyone is different, you could be able to get away with it but people like myself have a big belly by 4 months. i'd try and find a cheap empire dress to fit the bump. you could always try david's bridal. this was my belly at 4 months if that helps at all. i had a flat tummy to start.
