Who pays for Tux rental?

Hello Ladies, I am wondering whether or not jit is okay to ask the groomsmen to pay for their tux rental. Is that how is usually goes down, or do my fiance and I have to pay for the tux rental? Thanks!

Re: Who pays for Tux rental?

  • We had the groomsmen pay for their own rental. And every wedding I've been in and my husband has been in, we have always paid for our own attire.
  • Same here
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • Part of excepting to be in the wedding party is to pay for your attire. Girls pay for their gowns, guys their tuxes.

If you expect anything else, same shoes, hair, make-up than you pay.

If your girls can wear something they already have in their closet let them. If you are expecting them to wear a pair of say, pink high heels they'll never wear again, yeah you pay for them, some women have issue with certain high heels.

No one will notice what shoes your girls wearing, just let them wear what they want. Keep in mind, not everyone can wear the same shoe.

  • When a guy or a girl accepts the honor of being a groomsman or bridesmaid, they should know that there's an obligation for them to pay for their own if they have not been otherwise notified.

"Let them wear their own" is not a good idea, whether it's a bridesmaid wearing shoes that are comfy or a groomsmen wearing his lucky athletic socks.

I think that it's a good idea for the bride and groom to scout out and do some comparison shopping to find out a ball park figure on a total rental. When you do that, make sure that you ask specifics, because the big chain stores are trained to give you teaser rates to begin with. If there's a free groom's tux rental offered, perhaps the groom can offer to pay the initial payment required to place the order, which would reduce the amount that the groomsmen have to pay. That seems to be a good compromise!
