FPC or NBP???

We booked our reception site a couple months ago at the Bluestone (formerly BOMA) at 4:30pm May 19, 2012. We had a few parks in mind for the ceremony but decided to wait until May to make a decision because its hard to picture parks in May when its snowing etc.

We narrowed it down to Franklin Park Conservatory and North Bank Park. FPC is perfect! I really like the Grove and the rain back up space - the Veridian- is ok. Except the ceremony time would be 2:00 - 2:30. What on earth would guests do for 2 hrs??? I feel like they would get bored and we'd lose some of them before the reception.

NBP is pretty, but parking is a huge issue. Also, it would be slightly more expensive than FPC due to having to pay for all our guests parking.

Which one would you choose?? Is two hours really that big of an issue?

I really don't think two hours is that big of an issue. It seems like most weddings I've been to these days have big gaps between the ceremony and reception. Besides guests are usually accustomed to waiting about an hour anyway for all the pictures.

Could you schedule a cocktail hour at 3:30 for your guests? That way you can go and take some pictures and your guests can head over and get the party started. Just an idea :)

The Neil Ave garage is only a short block walk from NBP. I've catered some amazing weddings there and love this facility! Don't let the parking scare you off, it's not as bad as it seems lol

I think FPC may be nice, because your guests can spend some time walking around the conservatory during your gap.

NBP- I went to a wedding there and we didn't have to pay for parking. We parked in a garage less then a block away and walked. It was so pretty!!!

Our wedding is at FPC in July in Bride's Garden.  Ceremony is at 2:00.  Our reception is at a different location and we're starting cocktail at 5, dinner at 6.  We plan on getting all our photos inbetween and wanted it that way so we weren't pressed for time.  All our guests are traveling at least 2 hours so it gives them time to check into hotel, freshen up, tour FPC and whatever they like.  I had my mind made up on an outdoor garden wedding (yes, weather permitting) but fell in love with FPC.  A couple words of advice...... do what YOU and your FI want!  Really, it's impossible to try and please everyone.  A little gap inbetween isn't going to hurt anybody.  If your guests want to attend both, they will.  Do whats going to make you happy.  My vote is FPC!
