MB Brides - anyone use the travel company?

Just wondering if anyone used the travel company in the Mandalay Bay? What is it that they actually do for you? I assumed they would take care of room blocks as well, but my co-ordinator had someone from Ad Hoc take care of this separately.

Ugh never mind, apparently I've missed something, just heard back from Ad Hoc and they are going to hold 12 rooms for us until FEBRUARY 23rd?!!! Our wedding is July 30th and we wanted to include room block info in our invites or STDs.  How do we include info in an invite that hasn't even been mailed yet and expires in two days. Has anyone else had any success booking group discount room rates at Mandalay?

That seems ridiculous, have you spoken to them about the logistics of this?!

Do you need to reserve the rooms with a deposit? Can you afford to pay on behalf of your guests? If not I would just let everyone sort themselves out...

i have not had any success for my guests, we got a great rate for us, i called room reservations, (it was a number on one of the lists that the wedding coordinator emailed to me) and they said they would hold 10 or more rooms but i thought the price wasnt great, unfortuneley most of my guests are opting for luxor since its connected and not very far walk at all, i think its really crappy that mb cant even offer to give our guests a good room rate, we did book 2 rooms for our  parents through our players club card...and we dont even gamble that much so that goes to show you i guess the better rates go to those who spend

Oh, we have a players club card too, I should give the number to my co-ordinator and see if we can get any deals. I think it's a bit odd too. I did email The Travel Company to see what they can do as their flyer was included in my wedding package, but I'm not holding my breath.

We are using the Travel Company if our guest if they so choose.  The Travel Company can get your guests a discounted rate on the Mandalay Bay 550 room as well as maybe a discounted rate on THE Hotel.  In addition, they can book airfare, car rental, etc.  just like any other travel agent.  If you wedding guest call, they can let them know who else in your wedding party they've booked, and how these people are getting there, if they're staying at MB, etc.  The two ladies (Ann and Stacy I think) are very nice.  Also, if you booked your MB wedding prior to 2010 they will waive the $150 fee.  They can provide you an insert for your invites with their info.

Thank you very much, this sounds completely worth it. I think it's included in our package since it said if you were getting married at THEChapel it was included, but if not I think we may pay it as we have guests coming from all over so it would be nice to have a central agency co-ordinate and get discount rates

Since it looks like you wedding is ~5 months away, I would give them a call and they will set you up-which basically just means they'll take you and your fiance's name down and look up whatever travel rates you or your guests need.  Glad I could help!

You mentioned a $150.00 fee that is waived if booked by 2010...what fee are you referring too?  My fiance and I booked with Anne at the Travel Agency and I believe it was prior to the new year, but I don't recall a fee deduction??

Is the rate much better using them?  I wasn't even aware of it :(
