I'm newly engaged and perfectly freaked out!
A little background...I had two family tragedies recently which really played into my engagement. In October, one of my nieces, who was only 19, died in a car accident. Then, a few weeks later, my dad had a small stroke. I think it made everyone in my family realize how fast things can change. So, completely out of the blue to me, my FH asked me to marry him on Thanksgiving Day in front of my entire family. It would have been wonderful at anytime, but it really has helped my family look forward to something while we mourn my niece's passing and while my dad regains his health.
This will be a second marriage for both of us and a first real wedding. We're thinking of an October 2012 wedding, but nothing is set yet.
I'm overwhelmed, to say the least, but very happy. I love reading the planning bio's and things seem just a little more doable knowing there's so much help out there. I never really wanted a wedding, and we're on a tight budget but evenso, I think I can put something nice together.
