Flammable Confessions

Re: Flammable Confessions

  • I had an abortion about 6 yrs ago. I was in a abusive relationship and I was on the pill.  Once I found out I didnt even tell him. I just went and got it done.  No way would I bring a kid into that kind of situation and given the abuse I had between teh time I found out and the time I got it... I probably would have lost it anyway.  I would never want a guy like that to father a kid.. let alone mine. I was only about 2 months. I honestly have no regret and hardly ever think about it. It didnt really bother me.. I think every womans situation is different... I will say it gave me strength to leave.. even if in the end it took a while.  If people dont want women to have an abortion then instead of protesting aborion clinics.. why dont you protest the pharmacutical companies that charge $180 for the pill (yes thats what i pay and i have insurance) alot of women cant afford it.. if they want want to do something.. make BC free.. just a suggestion...

let's also be realistic about sex ed in this country, and talk about bringing that into the 21st century.

then there's also availability of bc to poorer people.

i'd much rather people abort their unwanted fetii, especially if they're poor and would end up on welfare (if they're not already). this world is way too overpopulated as it is.

Let's be honest, abstinence only education isn't going to work. Kids are curious and the fact that 11 and 12 year olds are having kids is just sad and should be a huge wake up call to everyone who thinks otherwise.

That's interesting!  I have a friend who is on the NuvaRing and she's had really weird eye problems too.

I don't know why I'm only chiming in on BC related stuff, bored I guess.

Also wkn, it's not like bunnies KNOW that they shouldn't go in the road.  THEY ARE BUNNIES.

  • I've hit a bunny before too. He ran out RIGHT in front of me, and I didn't even have a chance to stop. Although he kept running (I think he maybe just jumped into my undercarriage as opposed to sustaining any tire damage), and I realized in my rear view mirror that he was being chased by a dog. So the timing on that whole thing actually worked out.

I'm sorry, that's just bad parenting.
  • Every method of chemical BC has some potential for side effects.  There was a scare in the 70s/80s about IUDs, but I think it turned out to be just a specific type of IUD that had a manufacturing defect or something.  I also think it's the most popular type of BC, world wide, but low on the popularity list in the US - not sure about Canada.  Certainly it's a choice you should make with your doctor, but if you're not interested in having kids in the next 5 or 10 years, I'd certainly do the research and have the conversation.

I'd absolutely have gotten one once my doc approved it for me, except that then-FI and I knew we would want to TTC soon enough that it wouldn't be financially worthwhile to get it.

  • I had weird eye problems when I switched pills.  I thought that I had pink eye.  Turns out that one of the possible side effects was "inability to wear contact lenses".

It may strike you as selfish, but not everybody has the same feelings about that kind of stuff. You don't know what causes people to dislike hospitals or seeing someone else suffer. People are not all wired the same and have not had all of the same experiences. I wouldn't want a loved one to be forced to come see me in the hospital if I was aware of it or not if it was going to cause that person a lot of grief. I'm not agoraphobic, but I sure as hell am not going to judge someone who is because I'm able to leave my house every day with no problem.
