If you are not planning on having more than 10-15 people at your wedding and reception, are Save the Dates necessary?

    Completely up to you. Save the dates aren't "necessary" for anyone - but they're, IMO, a good idea to give your guests a heads up to keep that day open if they want to come to your wedding.

    If you're really only inviting 15 people, a word-of-mouth STD would probably be just fine.

    I agree with lplions. They aren't needed for any wedding. If you wanted to send them, then go for it. If you don't, it won't matter. You decide - totally up to you!
