Veil?

Have you girls figured out your veil yet?  My mom is making my veil so I need to figure out if I want a blusher or not.  The only thing I know is that I want cathedral length to go with my gown.

What are you girls doing?

Re: Veil?

  • I have my veil already. I was set on not having one and then the consultant put one on me that went PERFECTLY with my dress and I was sold. I am only wearing it for the ceremony. FI thinks I will not wear one (cause we have talked about me not liking them). We are doing a first look so I think I will not wear it then and put it on for the ceremony to surprise him. I also got mine used (in perfect condition) for half the price as new!

    This is my veil (clicky)

  • This is my veil. I purchased the ivory one to match my dress. The beading on the veil also matches the beading on the dress almost to the T. It comes down to about the middle of my back.

  • I think I'm going to attempt to make my veil as well, libby. But, I'm going to do a fingertip length, probably two layer, no blusher. but I need to find my dress sample so I can get ribbon to match it....
  • My biggest issue is whether to do a blusher or not.  What made you girls decide to not have one, or have one?
  • I don't like having my hair messed up and I fell like that is all I would think about if I had one.

I am paying for my makeup to be done and I want to show it off.

I think they are old fashioned and not my style.

My photog joked that blusher's make brides look like ghosts and I kinda agree.

I am getting married outside and if it is windy it will be pushed against my face and make me crazy (Kate Middletons veil did this when she was walking into the church).

i am sure I could come up with more but these are off the top of my head. A blusher was never an option for me though. Not my style.

  • I got a veil. It goes well with my dress; the beading matches. I got the full three tiered veil with the blusher but I will not be wearing it over my face. I got it because it provided a little more body for the veil behind me and since I will be wearing my hair down I wanted that sort of look.

I'm not doing a blusher because I will most likely go for the "up-do with a tail" look for my veil (like this). So, it would be rather challenging to do it. My hair is something I rather enjoy "showing off" and I get the most compliments on it. So I fully plan on making it "LOOK AT MY HAAIRRRRR" hahahaha.
  • I don't think I am doing a veil, but having some sort of hairpiece. I haven't decided if I want to go with a flower or something sparkly though.

  • Lplions I love that look.  My sister had something similar and it looked very pretty with soft curls and what not.

Mochie I hope you don't mind but I'm stealing this list and when my mom ask why I'm not having a blusher I'll just give her these response.  FI said he wants to see me so he doesn't want the blusher.  I also agree with you that it would mess my hair up.  I'm wearing my hair in a low updo so the veil being pulled back would definitely mess everything up.

Lplions how do you imbed a weblink?
  • I'm wearing my mom's veil, but cut from cathedral to chapel length. It's not the same color as my dress, and it does have a few stains, but I don't care because of the sentiment involved.

  • My mom's big into tradition, so I'm doing a two-tier veil.  Not sure what length to do, I'm stuck between elbow and fingertip, probably will go try ona  few more.

My original plan was ot make my veil- hand-embroidered, but I'm not sure I'm going to have the time or sanity for that...
  • I plan on wearing my sister's veil. I have my dress already, and have her veil, but I've never put the two of them together to see if they will even work.

My dress is ivory, but is fairly white looking. Her's was more champagne/goldish tones. So, I might need a new plan and have to buy one myself. But, the style and lenght are what I would like. I definitely do not want a blusher - it was never even an option or thought, honestly.

(I smudged faces just cause they are not me, and I don't feel comfortable posting someone else's faces on an internet board.)

I am not wearing a veil at all.  I plan to have a low updo with a few flowers in my hair.

I'm wearing a veil with a blusher - and more than likely using the blusher... during the reception I will swap out the veil for a pretty hair comb.
  • Melissa what is making you want to wear the blusher?

<div>Hi! Welcome! Will you do an intro post, please?</div>
  • I am wearing a cathedral length veil with beading on it and I might add a sparly headband to match the beading on my dress but not sure yet. No blusher
