Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

Wedding recap March 31, 2013

Our wedding was overall a very beautiful day. We ran into tons of issues throughout the day, but in all honesty, I only remember a few. The big one was the 'dj' who played the wrong songs at the ceremony...no one noticed but us, but it really ticked my hubby off. Needless to say, hiring a non-professional was a big mistake...hiring a friend of the family was an even bigger one. He told us to pay him what we thought was fair...given that we did everything but push 'play' and he still screwed up, we paid him the minimum...but then my MIL had a fit about it.
As far as vendors go I have rave reviews:

Venue: Gallery J, Winter Springs FL
AWESOME!

Catering: Levans, Winter Springs, FL
Food was amazing. I'm still getting compliments!
They were also very helpful with lots of other things.

Flowers: Flower No. 5, Orlando, FL
GORGEOUS flowers! Bobby did an amazing job...I pretty much gave him a color and one picture of a bouquet I liked and he ran with it...just amazing!

Photographer: Norman Yu Photography, Orlando, FL
Stunning photos...I've only seen the previews but they're amazing...I'm so happy with them!
At the end of the day, pictures are all we have left and Norman and his team did an amazing job capturing the feel of the day! (All photos in this post are from him!)

Those pictures are gorgeous! Jealous that you got a great caterer; ours was a nightmare. He lied to my guests, telling them we were out of certain items and then we caught them bringing the leftovers from the same item out to their truck to take back to their restaurant. He then lied about it to us, called my mother in law a liar and accused her of starting crap with him so she could skip out of the bill. He didn't put water on the tables like he said he would, so we had had kids going up to the bar asking for glasses of water. He only had one server and we ended up bussing our own head table. After the blow up about the leftover food, he left. His service ended there so everything else that had to be done, we did ourselves. We're now wondering what to do. It bothered me but it really didn't get me angry until I found out that our guests got denied food. We went above the amount who rsvp'd just to make sure we would have enough;..... So, enough venting!! :) I'm glad your day went well -- one thing I think brides should know is that it Is not a fairytale all day; there are issues and mistakes and as long as they keep in mind that those little things don't matter, they should be fine. Are you having withdrawals now?? I'm a little sad that "our day" is over but looking forward to the future. Good luck!!
  • Omg, that's awful, bfsboo! I'm so sorry to hear about that! It's actually really strange that they were carting off leftovers, too...our caterer loaded up all the leftovers (including some melted chocolate from our chocolate fountain) into our car along with a chilled bottle of wine so we could enjoy some food when we got home.
  • I -love- that photo of you two through the greenery! It has this very ethereal look to it! GREAT capture by your photog!!!

I also love how casual and happy everyone looks in that group shot!

Super glad everything went smoothly for you on your big day! Congrats on the wedding!!!

Interesting, because he tried to tell us that it was illegal for us to keep the leftovers (although I worked for a catering business for 4 years and personally packed up people's leftovers for them...) He was an awful person. He ruined it for us and made my mother in law cry. Who does that?!! We are being told we can take him to small claims court - not sure if we're going that route yet even though I personally feel that we don't owe him a dime. To be continued... lol

How could that be illegal?? That's crap! And they made your MIL cry...seriously, what's wrong with this guy?!?

  • I have no idea. It was a nightmare...He kept telling my husband that he didn't care what he had to say because his reputation is good with the O'Leary's (which is my mom's side of the family who make up a large population of this town) but word is getting around what happened. It kind of seemed like he had intentions all along to charge us per pan but then take back what he could when we weren't looking. It blows my mind because he's well-known in the town and he has a very popular sports bar to boot. What I think is that he does this to people often but nobody ever catches him. Sorry to make the subject change from the original post!! I just wish I could say as many good things as mvance3 did... It sucks but I honestly regret parts of our reception because of him.

I want to say it's a food safety thing but not sure about the "illegal" part.
