Lurkers, Newbies, and Regs

There have been a lot of "lurkers" coming out lately expressing their thanks to the regs on the excellent advice that is given on these boards.

I just wanted to say to the newbies- Bad ideas will not be validated by the regs, and the advice that is given is always proper and good. If your idea is not validated, please try very hard to avoid the whole "everyone is mean", "no good advice is given" entitled foot stomp bit.

And to the regs, you guys always give excellent advice. I know there are a lot of these newbies that do the whole "i'm leaving" foot stomp bit, however it seems like there are a LOT more lurkers out there that are coming out and expressing their heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the advice you all give. So I just wanted to say keep up the excellent advice and you ALL are appreciated!

I'm a lurker, who likes to occassionally post, and I totally appreciate the honest opinions. I can see the whole "Regs are being mean" just because people don't like their ideas being poo poo'd on, and being told they are being rude, or that what they are planning to do break etiquette.

I totally got told that what I was doing in regards to not inviting a specific guest was rude last week. I didn't like it. But the girls are CORRECT! I appreciate the no BS here.

I think that's why it's a great idea to lurk for awhile - if possible - before posting. Newbies might not be used to the blunt answers of some regs. And they might get some background on why their honeymoon registries, B lists, partial open bars, and replacing people in wedding parties might get shot down!

ETA: I've learned A LOT from lurking on these boards and regs give fantastic advice.

Hahaha. I lurked the entire time I was planning my wedding and only started posting now that I'm married. (Which I think makes puts me in the married hag/feel bad for my husband category?)

There seem to be people who post here because they care about etiquette and people who post to get their ideas validated. The ladies here giving advice will gladly offer to both categories and offer really good advice, too. Some just take it better than others...

I am mostly a lurker, I do post every once in a while but I have to say that the regs do give great advice. I appreciate the time they taken answering some of the crazy crap people ask on here as well as the legit questions.

I'm mostly a lurker but do post from time to time...I've learned a TON from lurking and am totally grateful for the great advice i've read from regs...I was totally clueless about things before so i'm glad I avoided a lot of faux pas that couldve been made!

I've been a raging lurker for a long time. I jump in and post when I can, but usually things are over and done before I get to them.

I got a lot of great advice from the Regs, I also got my arse handed to me a couple times in the early days before I knew what I was doing.

Now I'm just an old married hag who lurks.

I used to be a fairly regular poster until I was forced into ending my engagement last fall (LONG, tough story...), but I've come back to lurking in the past month or so as part of my healing journey. I've been reminded about what great advice, camaraderie (sp?), and reminders this board gives, as well as the 'I've got your back even if you don't realize it' vibe there is around here. I really appreciate the reg's willingness to shoot a big old fat hole in some people's overinflated senses of entitlement, and I appreciate even more those who take that in stride and figure out that listening is better than arguing.

Would anyone mind if I started posting again sometimes? It makes me sad to think of my wedding that isn't going to be now, but I've missed this place.
