    The club has the right to decide what's acceptable on its turf.  You follow the rules, or you leave.  The man who pointed out the rules to you wasn't being rude-he was doing his job.  Apparently the club's event coordinator who failed to mention to you that the rules apply for all occasions, not just the actual wedding, didn't.
