Timing of Ceremony... PH won't budge

Hi All

Planning our Ceremony for next April at Planet Hollywood. The only times available are 4 PM or 5 PM. I asked if we could do a 6 PM ceremony. Here's my reasoning:

I don't want to have my guests wait a long time between the ceremony and dinner. Thinking the ceremony would be over by 6:30, then they would just have an hour hour to kill until dinner while we take the rest of our pictures.

Want to get some dark shots on the strip with all the lights. Complete sunset is at 7:10, so after the ceremony we'd have great lighting according to the photographer. So we'd have dinner start at 7:30.

Planet Hollywood refuses to move the ceremony to 6 o'clock. Why does one hour's difference make such a big deal to them? The coordinator told me this was the manager's decision. Should I call and speak to the manager myself?

I really hate the idea of having my guess wait two hours between the ceremony and dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. An hour doesn't seem like a big deal, they could grab a drink, hit a table...

We are doing a DDB the night before so I can't use that as a time filler. We are going to get a suite at Planet Hollywood so one thing we could do would be to have drinks up there for people...

I don't know if I'm really asking any questions here but any thoughts or advice on the topic would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

  • They probably won't change the time because it involves more than the coordinator staying late. Housekeeping will need to stay to clean up the chapel. The ministers contract may only be until a certain time. It could be another reason they can't do a later ceremony.
  • You can try and talk to the manager but as the PP mentioned it may just not be possible. 2 hours between ceremony and reception really isnt too bad though. Its Vegas! Especially if your guests can have an in suite cocktail hour. Have you considered maybe getting some entertainment in the suite? Have you also maybe considered any of the other chapels close to planet hollywood perhaps if they wont move the time? I know this must be very frustrating and disappointing for you. Similar thing happened with Mandalay Bay they only had 3 or 5 pm and I was insistant on a 4pm wedding. So we chose a different venue so I could get the time I want.

  • Is it possible they have another wedding at that time?

  • Thanks guys. The more I think about it the more I think it's ok. It's Vegas! I've been to many weddings at home where there was a three hour lag between church and reception. I might be able to find something to fill the void, I might not. Not the end if the world either way. Thanks for letting me vent!

  • We have 2 hours between our ceremony at PH and dinner at Margaritaville. I was uncomfortable with it at first - but it's Vegas, people will find a way to entertain themselves.
