Wedding party gifts

Hello!

I was just wondering what the typical amount to spend on the following would be:

- matron of honour
- bridesmaid
- groomsmen
- parents of bride and groom
- ushers
- MC

Thanks!

Re: Wedding party gifts

  • You would have to look at your budget to figure that one out. None of us know your budget, or what your expenses are, so it would be hard to tell. I am planning on spending about $30 each, but I am on a very strict budget. You should get them gifts that you would get them for their birthdays or Christmas.

  • That's what I thought too, and have come up with gift cards to their favourite store.

    Thanks!

  • Ditto PP.

However if you have a low budget but a high expense wedding then I think you need to re-think the budget and cut from somewhere so that you can make sure that the wedding party is thanked well.

Example: if you're having a DW requiring air travel and hotel stays for the entire WP, giving each BM a DVD would be very cheap IMO.
  • I should know what a DW is, but am wracking my brain, and coming up blank! Our entire wedding party is from out of town: MOH and BM from 1 province over (I'm in Canada), GM from 2-3 hours away, and BM (best man) from Switzerland. All have family here, and all are staying with their respective families. FH was thinking around the $50 mark. I totally agree with thanking the WP well, but I do think it goes hand in hand with budget. I also don't think that FH and I have to spend the same amount on our people. I was actually thinking of doing $100 for my girls (they are spending money on their attire, afterall), and about $50 on the usher on my side. I just also don't want anyone to feel put out by anything.
