  • I think it's just wedding season. I'm waiting on the prom proposals someone talked about awhile ago. They should be an entertaining read.
  • Especially here and on WP. Holy crap the drama.

[QUOTE]Prom proposals? So there's going to be an influx of 17 and 18 year old "brides-to-be" that haven't yet graduated from high school? I did not know this was a thing.

What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • There was one last year.  She was (and is) cray cray.  She still posts sometimes, although I haven't seen her in a while.  She was SO HAPPY he proposed at Prom.  She had a link to their actual wedding website in her sig, and I remember being like "Um, I don't think you should be proud that the most recent pictures of the two of you are graduation and prom.  This is weird."

  • I didn't think it was a thing either until someone mentioned it a couple months ago. Apparently, every April/May/June, there's a small influx of high schoolers who's boyfriend proposed on prom night. 'Oh goodness, the most romantic time of my life.'
  • But don't you all realize that if they don't have even numbers in their wedding party that their marriage isn't legal?  And do you know that if the BMs aren't the brides wedding slaves then they are horrible friends who should be fired!?!  And that weddings take precidence over everything, like family and a sister who has a drug problem?  Gosh, don't you guys know anything?!?!

  • A girl I work with from time to time didn't go to prom in May because she was getting married in July anyway...

She was an early bloomer in all aspects.

It is really amazing how selfish people are and that a party is more important then someone's life.  It reminds me of that thread where a poster told the story of two sisters, one of which needed a bone marrow transplant and that the other sister was unhappy because the transplant was to take place before her wedding and that, once again, her sister was taking away her spotlight.

  • Nice!

Oh, you will all like this gem from The Bee:

"Etiquette does not  require hosts to consider as social units couples who are not married, not engaged, or who are not living together (again, because etiquette presumes that couples who are living together are secretly married), regardless of how close such couples may otherwise perceive themselves to be and regardless of how long such couples may have been dating."

I'm trying to tell her she's wrong, but she isn't getting it.

My favorite response to this was 'be sure to pull out the etiquette book and show it to your friends that are hurts their boyfriend isn't invited. That'll take their hurt feelings away.'

It shows that etiquette is about accommodating your friends. Sorry. I don't remember who said it.
  • I'm glad Banana banned that girl who called us a-holes on WP. The OP of that thread is also worrying over her bridesmaids' dresses on Moms & Maids. So far, the responses have been what I assume are friendly by newb standards b/c her fiance has not jumped in to chastise anyone, and no randoms have joined in to call anyone a-holes, but I keep waiting for it.....

    Good thing I haven't worn my e-ring for a bit . . .

I could not fathom getting proposed to at prom.  I didn't feel ready to date until university - getting engaged in high school?  Maybe it's good for them, but not my cup of tea . . .

Sometimes the drama here is interesting, but sometimes it is very sad.  Drug problems and alcohol addictions trump wedding planning - ALWAYS.  Same with serious health issues.

  • Full moon is tomorrow.  I noticed on Monday we were a few days away from a full moon.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
