Ring shopping :D

This past weekend we were in London and stopped into Tiffany's to try on rings. :D  I totally fell in love with the soleste and the tricky sales lady slipped my boyfriend the stats and price.  The one I tried on was smaller than I would prefer and I made sure he knew that (in a nice way, of course) and he said, "Oh, don't you worry.  You'll get exactly what you want."

Yay :)  Of course, who knows when he'll actually buy the ring and all that, but he and SA exchanged info.  I even said, "Now, it doesn't matter to me if it's Tiffany's.  I just love the setting and I bet we could get it somewhere else or get something just like it made." And he said, "Orrrrr... we could just get the exact setting you want from there."

  • Hi and welcome.  I love Tiffany's jewelry but I told FI I'd prefer he not go there for the ring, many stores have similar ring styles.

I love performing in theater as well.  I do mostly community stuff and do 3-4 shows a year.  Musicals and plays, it's a fun hobby.  I like how you guys met during a production.  What other shows have you done?

    Tell us more about yourself!

Same. I don't like it when people don't post on other posts on the forum then just start their own 'hey look at me!!' post out of nowhere.

  • I was born in Germany but I only lived there for 3 years before we moved to The States. Where in Germany did you live?
  • Yes!  Yay for community productions. :)
We're currently in a production of Spamalot and some of my most recent shows were:
    Hairspray - Amber
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - Christine Colgate/The Jackal
Why Do Fools Fall in Love? - DeeDee
    101 Dalmations - Anita
    The Producers - Ensemble
Beaty and the Beast - Ensemble
Evil Dead: The Musical - Cheryl
    The Drowsy Chaperone - Kitty

I only did 2 shows this season because I wasn't crazy about the rest.  Boyfriend was in most of those shows too (and a few of the plays that they did too).

I know Tiffany's is totally overrated and over priced, but every time I see a double halo ring like the soleste it isn't as pretty UNLESS it's from somewhere equally pricey.  That's why I suggested getting it made, but he seemed to not be interested in that (and, heck, I won't complain).

What about you?  What shows have you done? :)

  • Well, I'm sorry that you don't like it when people do that.  Some people get excited and post because they're excited.  You guys post so much about how "maybe you should have lurked first" that it's uncomfortable to just post.

I am German but we were also there because my father was serving at the time so yes to both. My Mom's side of the family is from Germany and she lived there for a bit when she was a child but my father was in the Army when they got married and they moved back to Heidelberg where he was stationed. I was born there at the time and so was my little sister.
  • Did you grow up in a military community?  I had never heard the phrase "the states" until we moved here, but that might have been a regional thing.

Yes, we lived in the military quarters in Heidelberg. After moving 1000 times we only lived in military housing one more time after that I believe but I've grown up hearing people say "the states" so it has just stuck with me.
  • So, how did you and your FI meet?

I just did the Producers, as well. I was one of the main dancers. I mostly get cast as a dancer in musicals. I'm currently rehearsing for a production of Grapes of Wrath. I've done Anne Frank, Cabaret, The Crucible, Gypsy, Hello Dolly, Curtains, West Side Story. I've done over 45 plays and musicals so it's gets hard to remember everything.

  • Oh how fun!  I'm not a great dancer, but I get by okay.  I usually get cast for my singing.
I would KILLLLLLL to do West Side Story.  They just don't seem to want to do it here.  To busy doing trendy shows (and, YET, they won't do Legally Blonde)

We had a mutual friend that he grew up with and she was a sorority sister of mine. She introduced us when he moved back to the area and I was finishing up with college. After that it was all history lol.

Ah, very nice. :)  Mind if I ask what sorority?
    I'm an ADPi girl, myself.

For clarification, I went to IU and am back in Germany now.  (And technically lived in Germany the whole time. :) )

I was a Gamma Phi at a school here in Georgia. I don't know if we had a chapter at IU though.

  • How would you put a wedding band under the Tiffany Soleste without having to get a weird curved band?  #practicalshityoushouldthinkaboutwhenpickingoutyourring
  • It's actually a fairly high setting, so a straight band works great. In Response to Re: Ring shopping :D:

  • I thought it was rude because of the implied meaning made evident by ahwell[something] (don't remember what her SN is). Just because I'm new doesn't mean I'm not allowed to post stuff like this. It wasn't a "HEY LOOK AT ME" thread. I was (and am) genuinely excited. In Response to Re: Ring shopping :D:

  • See, that I can understand. But it would have been nice for the initial response to have been, "I haven't seen you on here before. Tell us about yourself and your relationship! Welcome to the forum." I'll post about our relationship in the morning. It's almost midnight here. In Response to Re: Ring shopping :D:

And now we need Sous' Starbucks analogy.

Mine? Sorry, I'm unclear since you said "stillwell" as one word which could mean you were addressing ahstillwell. I assume that it was directed at me since you are also a regular.
