October 2013 Weddings

Nervous for the weather

Not sure if there are any other Twin Cities knotties on this board, but for those of you who arent: MN weather sucks (WI knotties may understand). A couple weeks ago, it was in the 50s, and then we got 9 inches of snow. This past weekend it was in the 70s and I got a sunburn. Today we are predicted to get 6-9 inches. WTF.

I'm a born and raised Minnesotan, I'm used to it. But I'm getting nervous that our Oct 5th OUTDOOR ceremony might be interesting. We were hoping for cool 50-60 degree weather, but who knows?!?! We have a backup, but it is really really not what I want. I just hope Mother Nature cooperates!!

Whine fest done :)

Re: Nervous for the weather

  • My hope is that since winter took forever to leave this year, summer will last longer. Typically that week in WI it is beautiful out. Last year was the first year since FI and I started dating that his birthday  (Oct. 5) sucked weather wise.

I am crossing everything for great weather for all October brides.

Currently coming down very fast. It rained all morning, but as the temp dropped, it turned to snow. I'm beyond bummed.

  • FI nixed an outdoor ceremony (which I wanted) for that exact reason! But seriously fingers crossed for good weather for all of us!

Excluding Texas.  We don't want a long summer!  :)  We're hoping that our wonky weather lasts through the summer months bringing us more rain and cooler temps.  I can do without the 110+ days, TYVM!

I'm a little antsy about our October outdoor ceremony, but, the weather is usually beautiful with minimal rain.  I've googled Poor Richard's Almanac, and some long-range forecasts and haven't seen anything to cause me to panic.  So, here's hoping with EVERYTHING crossed!!!
  • We could never do outdoor. My hometown is in the snow belt of NY so snow on our wedding day wont be a shock. I'm actually hoping for cold so I can wear my mother's white fox jacket.

[QUOTE]I can't believe you are scheduled to get SNOW this weekend! Weather has my mother a bit concerned too. She kept pushing August.  However, my FI sweats a lot and I get grumpy in humidity - so that was a no go. Ideally I'm getting married on the beach in New Jersey in October (Superstorm Sandy weekend last year, Snowstorm the year before).  Realistically, I'll probably be getting married in the country club near the beach in New Jersey. But I am AOK with that. I just keep reminding my mom that the setting isn't the important part - the important part is I'm marrying my best friend!

Where are you getting married? I'm also in NJ. And yes, the weather the past two years during that weekened has been insane. Here's hoping this year is different!

    To OP:

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
