Re: Catholic teacher fired b/c she is openly gay

  • What I have to wonder is what constitutes "public"?   Does it have to make the paper?   Could a teacher admit it to her class?   What if she's spotted in a clearly domestic arrangement with a non-platonic mate?

This is where the grounds of the school are shaky and they just need to be very careful regarding how they enforce.

I think this is what some people meant by having proof of say, a teacher in a heterosexual relationship cohabitating.  Or just having premarital sex.  In this case, the published obituary made things pretty clear, but I can see where it can get sticky.

  • I honestly think it boils down to innocent until proven guilty.
Like mentioned, if a woman gets pregnant out of wedlock, unless she admits (or their is proof) that she is continuing the sinful behavior, I can see why she wouldn't be fired.

The woman that was brought up with the OP is in a relationship with another woman.  While I agree that people should be given time to repent in these situations, she instead defended her relationship, cried "discrimination", sued the district and even rallied to get her students/parents on her side.
